have heard they have had issues with accreditation at the Lake but can't speak from experience.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Our Lady of the Lake College. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PAStandards.

Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with theStandards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2020. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.

Lsucoonass, I'm pretty sure you could get in. The profession was founded with corpsmen as the first students. Historically, people with your background have been very successful in PA roles. If your "handicap" is disclosed from the get go, I wouldn't think it would be a huge issue. You should look into it. Fwiw, I never got to do any of that fun stuff on my ED rotation. Just depends on sites. Academic sites tend to have pretty fierce competition with residents for procedures as they have to log so many to finish.

I talked to the head guy at olol about a year ago. Accreditation was an issue in the past. I think their standards are a little more lenient than lsuhscno or lsuhsc-Shreveport.

But if you are close to the standards and not many applicants you'll get in at olol just due to the fact alone they want your money. 2nd reason is to try to rebuild their reputation I suppose

Serious question: what's your motivation for pursuing a PhD in Exercise Phys? Areas of interest?

Glad to hear that OLOL had gotten their accreditation status in check. I have friends who went there. I thought Id initially apply there but it was much much cheaper to go out of state and I didn't want to live in S'port

I agree with JJ, in that you should have no problem getting into a PA program. Or a PT/OT program.

I have the same masters as you and went the PT route.

Had a feeling that if I started a PhD program, I'd be floundering in ABD status at the end. PT was the goal anyway.

Not a bad gig if you want to give decent medicine.

Fwiw, an associates degree in nursing may net you the same bring home and be a little easier to obtain. You can always do a step program later to np if you choose. I would say my quality of life/work balance would rival most NP/PAs.

This...

Many people don't realize the money that RNs make with hourly pay + shift diffs, nights and weekends.

So you have an associates in nursing?

Do you work shift work?

You think that rivals most np/pa's quality of life/ work balance?

Here, RNs work 3 days a week, PAs work 4, the pay difference is not as much as you might think. PAs do not get shift diffs, RNs get $7/hr more for nights, $3/hr critical care pay, 1.5 x hourly base pay for weekends.

Most of my nurses are making $100k+/- working 3 days a week (36hrs).

So to answer your question, yes.

If you are serious I'd say take your courses

Enlist as a corpsman or medic or find a slot in the medical service branch after ocs if you decide to go officer

You think the nurses are sleeping with PAs or MDs? I don't want to hear about work life balance.
