Not a true cooking show (neither is ace of cakes) but the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares was great. I watched every episode on Netflix and wish there were a hundred more. It's the inspiration behind Restaurant Impossible, but it's actually a good watch and real. Ramsay would go back to the restaurant a few months later to check up on them.Half the episodes ended happy and the other half the people went right back to their horrible ways and the business had gone further into the shitter.

Best cooking related show, then.

And there were loads of recipes; every recipe was designed so you could make it at home.

Thanks, I'll be bothered awake all night after seeing this list. I'm a bit older than the rest here, and Graham Kerr with his Galloping Gourmet show has GOT to be on that list. As I scrolled down approaching the top ten, I was sure his show would get a mention, but nothing. He was not only informative, but highly entertaining, especially when he would be piss drunk. He and Julia Child were my culinary mentors when I was young.

This time the food won.

Conway and Korman were the shite. All In The Family was one of the best television shows ever, but I was a Rowan and Martin Laugh In fan. Sock it to me.

Great Chefs FTMFW.

No personalities, just cooking. Narrated by a soundalike of the Star Trek TNG computer.

+1 on Yan Can Cook, Frugal Gourmet.

Rick Bayless had a good one on PBS. Real Mexico or something like that.

Entertaining (border lining on goofy) and informative. The guy can do amazing things with chickens.

The goofy "grinning Chinaman" was part of his schtick. I loved it.

Yeah, that list is complete shite. I think they threw in the "all time" just to include Emeril and Julia Childs.

My favorite growing up was the Great Chefs series. Great Chefs of New Orleans and Great Chefs of the World were fantastic. It's where I began my cooking. Now granted, i was 15/16 at the time and my cooking skills were minimal at best. I'd make nachos by freshly grating Cracker Barrel Sharp Chedder Cheese and adding bacon bits and Pepper vinegar and sit down and watch the show after school if i didn't have practice of any sort. I still make those nachos today and they are great.

My favorites are

1) Great Chefs
2) Iron Chef
3) Justin Wilson
4) Roger's Cajun Cooking (at noon on WAFB back in the 90's)
5) Good Eats (though i wish their production quality was better)
