There should be a Yan drinking game.

Take a drink every time he says "look how easy" or when he over enunciates "chicken powder".

Was it just me or did Justin Wilson add sauterne wine to everything? Also what the hell is sauterne wine and where do I get it?

I asked the wine guy at Rouse's about that. He said sauterne used to be a general term for white wine as well as a particular variety. He said the best approximation today would be Reisling.

It's amazing. When I saw you mentioned him on the first page I went to youtube and that was the first video I watched. I almost want to try that tonight he made it look so simple. Dude is a pro

Wow. No mention by anyone Mind of a Chef. The most in depth and creative cooking "show" to ever be produced.

loving all the Great Chefs love on here. In college, I had a notebook near the tv and would try to write stuff down as fast as possible. That and between the narrators voice, the lack of tv personalities yapping, and kitchen background noise, if I needed a nap that shite would put me out like a baby.

Emeril's first show set the hook.

MC Jr. gets love from me, even though it's not a classic "how to" because it really got my kids interested. My 7 year old got a chef knife for his birthday because of it. They'll get a Good Eats dvd set when they go to college if not before.

18. Emeril Live!

Absolutely ridiculous he is not higher.

quote:

17. Hells Kitchen

Used to watch it and now I cant stand it. Same thing over and over with no creativity from chefs who clearly can't cook anyway. Plus shows like this only want drama and not culinary skills.

quote:

14. Masterchef

Same as Hells Kitchen. After trying out for it and making it one step away from LA, by only cooking once, its a joke.

12. Guy's Big Bite

frickING LOL

quote:

8. Chopped

It was OK initially, but it has ran its course.

quote:

6. Top Chef

This was always one of my favorites because of the different styles everyone brought to the show. But the Nola season and on have been bad.

1-3 I couldnt agree with more.

I always preferred The Essence of Emeril. It was just him alone in a kitchen without all the contrived, made for TV stuff.

Sauterne wine

Reisling is too sweet, in my opinion, to be a substitute. Sauterne was just a basic cheap bulk white table wine.
