Going to either Commanders, Gautreau's, August, or Mr. B's. Which is best?

First time going to any of these.

Which is the best overall experience from food to service?

I'd pick Gautreau's, but for no particular reason.

Should I do Commanders to just check it off of the list?

1 / August
2 / Commander's
3 / Mr B's

*haven't been to Gautreau's but from reputation + word of mouth I'd say it would be my #2 had I been

How is Mr. B's?

A lot of people love that place.

It's good stuff. The others are just better, IMO.

There are all a bit different and while I enjoy Mr. B's, it's not in the same category as the other 3, in my opinion.

I've noticed Commander's has been doing really good stuff lately. I'd go there or Gautreau's and if you've never been to Gautreau's, I might give it the edge.

August, especially if you are doing the tasting menu.

Gautreau's is spectacular. The atmosphere is definitely more old school imo, which is not my thing, but the food is simply next level.

Commander's is cool for the experience, although I don't find the food to be quite on the level of those other two.

Mr. B's is pretty far behind the other 3.

I mean, I like Irene's ok, but to compare it to 3 of those other spots is laughable.

Gautreau's, August and Commander's are significantly more in the "fine dining" category.

I agree with Fun Bunch. It shouldn't be in that group. It's not even close. I didn't enjoy my experience there last April and have no desire to return. Just didn't measure up to the hype. Other than the bread on the table and the app I had, the rest was lacking in flavor and while cramped dining isn't unusual in New Orleans, I felt like I was eating in a basement and couldn't move my chair without knocking someone else and vice versa. Why people wait in line to eat there is beyond me.

Hard to quantify. What are you looking for? For instance, I've been to Commander's and August and enjoyed both. That being said, August did not really give me a "New Orleans" feel. By that I mean that type of restaurant would seem to fit in any major metropolitan area. You could not have a Commander's in NYC, for instance.

If you do go there, make sure you come on the OT on your phone and challenge everyone to an IRL fight.

Mr Bs is very good but so overpriced for what you get

Went for a work dinner and had gumbo, bbq shrimp, another app salad and was still hungry and went to mcdonalds afterwards

It was $65 for just my food and the bbq shrimp had 6 shrimp. What a ripoff

Portions are like appetizers

This is simple.

1 doesn't belong on this list (Mr. B's)
2 bring 1/2 food & service (Gautreau's & Commanders)
1 brings both (August) ***

I'd pick Gaureau's, with CP or August 2nd.. Mr Bs would be last on this list, but still good.
