I went to dinner last night at Coquette. The food was amazing, as always!

Had the charcuterie board, and it was fantastic. For my entrée, I had the duck, and it was one of the best ducks I've ever had!

While I do absolutely LOVE the food at Coquette, drinking there will land you in the poor house at $12+ per drink.

I also don't like that a place that charges $14 for a drink and $30+ for entrees has servers wearing jeans.

That's disappointing.

I used to feel like Coquette was a relative bargain for the quality of food being served. I probably go 1-2 times per year for dinner and I don't know if it's just the cynic in me, but my final bill seems to be substantially higher these days. Maybe it's the booze? I still think its price point is consistent with its competition.

The prix fixe lunch is still one of my go-to spots.

$12+ For craft style cocktails is standard now. High end eateries going more casual is pretty common too.

You're saving money at the pump. Shouldn't have a problem paying these prices.

Well, which is it?

I agree, Coquette is (and has been) priced to the max. IMO.
They have some of the best food in town, but they stopped being a good value well over a year ago.

Their cocktail program is top notch and this seems to be the going rate around town.

Welcome to last September. LINK

As I've stated several times now, Coquette really outgrew its britches over a year ago, with ending deals, raises prices and shrinking portions. I think they have finally refound their stride though and struck a nice balance because last time I went in December they had gotten back to their original form and were putting out killer tasting dishes.

I'll pay $12 bucks for a cocktail if it's the best one I've ever had and there's actually some ounces to it. Otherwise I'm drinking wine, beer or straight liquor. Places charging $15 + dollars for 3 sips of a drink, no matter how "creative" or labor-intensive, are taking you for a fricking ride.

I'm not a coffee drinker but I see the prices for shots of coffee over at District Pie and it's just crazy. Even beer is getting out of control. I ordered a Crowd Control to go from the uptown bulldog and it was $7.25. After I tipped I ended up paying $9 for a beer.

How this is appetizing to anyone as a breakfast meal is beyond me.

I'm not a sweet person but I've run through a good number of their savory pies. I'll say they are overrated but it is a nice change of pace grab and go breakfast option. I really like the Kung Pao Chicken.

You should see their "craft coffee" menu. I know you would love it

I poked my head inside the little District handpie/coffee location...meh. Went across the street and down a bit to Ps & Qs & had a hiVolt coffee. It was fine, but the pastry offerings looked lame. If all you serve is pies & quiche, they'd better be damn fine. The stuff at Ps & Qs was not visually appealing in any way. Standard small metal disposable tins, ordinary toppings & meringues. Not a hint of care, artistry, or attention to display. The place is stupidly small; four ppl filled up the entire sales floor, limited/no seating, and zero aesthetic appeal. Not sure what's going on there, but I didn't get the concept at all.

Thank goodness. A ringing endorsement by the frugal gourmet. I can now feel comfortable going back to Coquette and talking about it since R2R approves.

I don't eat many desserts, but their savory pies sound good. And I actually really like iced coffee, though I never drink it.

I agree with you, though. I could never eat that in the morning.
