Have tried lots of place and nothing seems to taste as good as the restaurants in LA (and of course not as good as a home boil). Are there ANY places in Houston doing it right? ....and please don't even suggest the Asian crawfish they have around here..not interested

Been here two years and have yet to try TX crawfish. My understanding is that they boil them wihtout spices and "dust" 'em with spices after they're boiled. Sounds like a completely different species.

They didn't exist when I lived there(moved 4 yrs ago). I used to go buy sacks at HEB since they didn't know how to price em by the sack they would always sale em for about $1 a pound, then I would boil em myself. I always heard stories about places outside the city that would do them correctly but when I would call they would be $7 a pound, lol no.

Not sure how far you are from Pearland, but there's a great place here called LA Crawfish Express. The people are from Louisiana, get their crawfish trucked in from there and they do it right. Just like we do it back home.

Yes, but you would need to drive down 45 to League City/Santa Fe.

I gave up trying to find them when I lived there. I'd just buy a sack off the back of a delivery truck and do them myself to satisfy my cravings.

Have a friend at work who said the Boil House in the heights was the best crawfish he has had in texas. He is from New Orleans so I hope he knows what he is talking about.

The Boil House is pretty damn good. Crawfish Shack is good, but now everyone in Houston seems to go there, so you'll have to wait an hour.
