My new go-to breakfast most mornings now is a smoothie from my blender

Either skim milk or low-calorie almond milk, a small frozen banana, a tablespoon of coconut oil, some liquid egg whites if I'm feeling frisky, & 1-2 cups dry oatmeal is the staple of my smoothie (I have 2 basic variations).

- chocolate is my favorite. Everything above along with a scoop of chocolate protein powder, a tablespoon of Brute cocoa powder for flavoring, a handful of walnuts, a spoonful of peanut butter or pb2 powder, & a small container of the 80calorie Dannon coconut greek yogurt.

- a second option is some type of berry variety. Add all of the main ingredients above along with a vanilla scoop of protein powder, handful of almonds/pecans, small fruit flavored yogurt (mixed berry pomegranate usually), handful of mixed frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, black berries, etc).

Sometimes I add in some local honey or vanilla extract. Always add 5+ ice cubes add the end and crush up to help with the texture & slightly dilute.

Always make this if I have a long day ahead or plan on hitting the gym hard later that evening. All the calories, carbs, & protein to get my day started right.

Anyone do anything similar? Looking for suggestions on how to tweak this or make it even better.

My breakfast is yogurt most days.

Cut up strawberries and drizzle honey on them and let them sit over night. In the morning I mash macerated strawberries with fork, add Chia seeds and mix together. Scoop in yogurt. Once I get to work I mix it together, add a bit of granola and consume.

I may start making smoothies, but need a new blender.

Amazon Link to Cuisinart

I bought this one a few months ago. Great price and does a good job with smoothies.

Ditch the sugary flavored yogurts and use instead a higher protein Greek yogurt, the full fat kind. Your blend is too sugary and has little/no fat (unless you use peanut butter). Fat will slow the digestion of all of that fructose (from the fruit).

if you're trying to lose 20lbs, I probably wouldn't go with what I posted above. That can easily be 1000+ calories in a cup

the "greek" yogurt that I use only has 80 calories and maybe 7g of sugar at most I believe. I hear what you're saying about too much sugar though, as a banana alone has quite a bit.

We make smoothies pretty much every morning. I find frozen fruit from Sam's is great for smoothies. Good price and resealable bags. About the only fruit I buy fresh are bananas. I usually add in some probiotics and fiber.

This is my weekday breakfast as well. I add a dash of cinnamon which helps makes me feel full.

I would like to start making smoothies on the weekend. Any other recs for low cost blenders?

1 cup frozen berries mix (blueberries, strawberries etc)
1 cup skim milk
1/2 banana
1 scoop whey (chocolate)

It tastes pretty good and gets me what I need in the morning...I'm sure it can be doctored up a bit more, but honestly that combo right there somehow produces nearly 32oz of smoothie. Any more and I'd be better off just drinking it straight out of the blender

If you want to switch it up with a green smoothie (you can still add your protein powder, but I wouldn't do chocolate):

Kale, lemon, raw ginger, pineapple. A lot of people will use apple juice or something like that as a liquid to aid blending. I just go with water, as I don't want the added sugar of the apple juice.

Vanilla protein and water with a spoon full of almond butter. My typical work day breakfast for at least three years.
