Are you your own worst enemy?

Why do we worry about stuff we know we don't need to worry about?

Do any of y'all practice mindfulness?

No question. Been working really hard to fix that though.

Training for a marathon, got a new job that pays more, more mindful of my spending, quit drinking (with the rare exception of a special event), and no more betting on sports.

Life is much more boring, but I definitely sleep better at night and I have a whole lot more in the bank account.

That's a fun way, at least.

Negativity isn't as fun

I only get anxiety when I try to go to sleep and get time to think on things. As far as bigger picture worrying, not really my thing

My ex wife did. She died at age 49 because of it.

Yes. I'm emotionally all sorts of fricked up.

You're only as fricked up as you allow yourself to be

Could've done better , gone to a college out of state , get a good degree, have more friends, and better human being. And stayed in shape

I was listening to a lecture about mindfulness and the guy made a really interesting point about how humans evolved to have a negativity bias and it causes us to lead much less happy lives than we could live.

Basically, ancient humans could make two kinds of mistakes: thinking non threatening things were actually threatening (mistaking a brown rock for a lion) or thinking that threats weren't actually threats (mistaking a lion for a brown rock). Those who were more likely to see threats in everything (made the first mistake) were more likely to live, so we now mostly have that bias.
So now we see threats everywhere and get stressed when we don't need to.

You're asking this on TD, shouldn't that make it a rhetorical question?
