Well that's not exactly a new way of thinking. Reminds me of the defensive driving concept taught in drivers Ed. Drive like everyone else on the road is blind and retarded. Still an interesting train of thought

Easier to focus on, for sure.

Anxiety is such a waste of time, but getting rid of it is easier said than done.

Very true. I tell people all the time that they restrict themselves by their thoughts. That's why a lot of people, me included, like to keep busy and have a plan. If I don't have a plan or am off fricking around, I am not a successful person.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will allow it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past
I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone
there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Bumping my own thread to say I'm doing better these days. I don't think someone with an anxious personality ever is fully "cured" of it or should even want to be, but I'm focusing much less on negative thoughts and being more open to life, experiences, and people.

If you struggle with anxiety and self-defeating thought patterns, I recommend "The Confidence Gap" by Stephen Hayes as a good intro to mindfulness.

If you are open to less modern ways of thinking about things, I also recommend looking into the four personality types. If you struggle with these issues, you will clearly fall into a certain one of the types, and reading about your own proclivities can be helpful. Here's a short quiz to help you determine your type: LINK

I know a lot of us moderns find this world to be a difficult place, whether or not we will admit it, so hopefully some of this helps.

I think I become restless when I get complacent and tend to move on. In that respect I avoid the downside of a job or relationship. I'm not sure I consciously even understand it at the time. I usually move on in jobs when I'm at my best and before people catch on to the fact I'm getting by more on charisma than talent.

Gratitude is the solution for me. I try to think of people and happenings in my life that I am Grateful for (at least 3 / day). This seems to reverse negativity for me.

Man, I can tell some incredible stories about this. shite is so easy for me,and I never felt like I deserved it. Maybe I just loved the excitement of starting over, and doing what it takes,to get to that point, where you know, you got it made..and that scares the hell out of you more than anything.

If you are a person that is like this, and you were lucky enough to get older, you start evaluating yourself and go from there. You probably won't figure it out really,it will all be the same, people will just come to you,and they still like you, just for the way you talk,or what they think you know and have learned.

Hopefully we survive long enough, and learn enough stuff, where we finally feel like we can return every bit of faith and hope, that was ever placed on us.

That's when you can get shite done.
