I think I've screwed up my life beyond repair. My problem is I follow my heart too much.

Like in college, I wanted to get a degree in communications. I'm really good at science and math. I could've gotten an engineering degree or something and be making really good money. But no, my heart told me I needed to become a writer. So I did.

I let my ex take advantage of me and frick up my mind, because I love her and can't see the horrible person that she truly is.

I fell in love with a girl that may never come back, but I wait for her cause I still believe that she will.

One day I gotta start listening to my brain more.

Not everybody sells themselves short and let's fear and anxiety control their lives to some extent.

You can be your "own worst enemy" by being dumb or making bad decisions, but that's not what I was talking about.

well then...

yes. Sometimes.. Not nearly as much as I used to. The older I get, the less fricks I give and the more I know what I want.

I decided long ago the average career path wasn't for me. I don't really care for the materialistic arms race to keep up with the neighbors or maintaining some socioeconomic status above my peers. When I realized I didn't have to do this I developed a peaceful attitude about my choices. It's who I am, and this is my life. I'm not cut out to be a career guy doing one thing forever and taking on a boat load of debt. If the economy collapses tomorrow I will be just fine. I had to learn to judge myself on my own standards, not someone elses. It's my life, not theirs.

I think that is human nature. We all complain about how we hate work, but spend money like crazy, hence having to keep working.

That's cool and all. But when you have to pay for daycare, child support and risk losing your home to foreclosure, that shite wears on you.

yes but very poorly.

I have some horrible self destructive behaviors. One in particular that I will not name, but its going to ruin my life at some point.

you're definitely on point re. having to wait to "settle down". I hate student loan/job market threads on here because half of this board really has no clue due to their age.

i am in! I love support groups. I have lots of inconsequential problems that I could talk about. one is my mother didn't hug me growing up. I am not kidding, she actually didn't hug me.
