Definitely psyched about Shaya.

Still can't figure out why some of the big NOLA chefs don't move into the BR market. Clearly they have the capital to keep opening up new spots. They would kill it. It's like a damn desert in EBR.

Because theyd fail. If you take 8 Saturday nights out of a restaurants revenue sheet, there goes the profit. Add on top, very little convention/tourist trade and its a losing bet

That list wasn't restricted to New Orleans and there's no second page in that thread. That one had a few Nola restaurants listed, not the list I posted today. I checked his thread first to make sure he didn't have this one. The list I posted wasn't even posted on Eater Nola until today at 12:05 pm. Sorry.

Pizza Dominica wouldn't kill it in BR? Patois? I'm not saying get August into town, but if Ruffinos is always slammed, isn't there money to be made?

Ruffino's is a place to go and be seen. Also to have the owner sing loudly off key.

There is room for a NOLA chef, but BR people would find some reason to shite on it beforehand. I would take my chances in a city that is more worried about food than how many likes they will get on social media when they post their meal.

I guess fail is too strong a word. They certainly wouldn't make as much money. So why put a couple hundred grand into a spot 70 miles away that will make maybe 75% in revenues that a similar restaurant opened on magazine would?

But they'd also probably fail.

Shaya is Israeli. My guess is it will be a modern take on Med cuisine. I'm failing to see a problem. Tel Aviv is one of the most cosmopolitan cities there is.

Almost every place is casual now. I can think of like four places where I would even consider wearing a blazer or a tie in the entire city.

15 years ago, another story.

Another reason I'm so glad I'm not a guy. All those suits in the heat of summer. I have to wear them sometimes and it's brutal to walk outside like it's 50 degrees out when it's 99.

Me too. Literally a 5 minute walk from my house. I'll meet you there and buy you a drink.
