Had a phone interview with a company the week before Thanksgiving. At the end of the phone interview she said that HR would contact me and bring me in for an interview during December. Didn't hear anything for 2 weeks, so I contacted the lady I had the phone interview with. She said HR should have contacted me already. HR finally contacted me on Christmas Eve, wanted to bring me in on the 7th of January to interview. I said that would be great. HR lady said she would ask the people I would interview with if that was fine with them and would call me back last Monday (12/29). I ain't heard shite from them. Left the person I did the initial interview with a message today. I feel like they are just dicking around with me. What says the OT?

Edit: eh frick, I post so much on the OB my bad

Sounds like it's a poorly run company that would be best to avoid.

Cut your losses. They're either stringing you along or are not very organized...

Yea we know.

Les hasn't handled this DC hire well at all.

Be patient.

Pretty typical around the holidays. hard to schedule lots of people for interviews.

Don't take is as bad news until they give you bad news.

A courteous follow up is not out of line. You might phrase it as something along the lines "want to keep them as a priority when scheduling interviews."

Meh. The holidays are a pain in the arse for stuff like that. I would be frustrated in your situation but don't get discouraged. They'll reach out to you this week I'm guessing.

They disrespected you and wasted your time, time to burn some bridges.

I think it's part holidays, part HR and part company, man if I wasn't unemployed I'd probably run from this as fast as I could.

Depending on the company, it could be some year end budgeting uncertainty/issue.

I got strung along like that one time. I went in two or three different times and interviewed with various people. It kept dragging on. They ended up promoting a guy there who was making a stink and called me wanting me to come back and interview for his job. Needless to say I burned a few bridges at that point.

Just continue your job search as normal. If something comes of it, then great. If not, then you've lost nothing. The less you invest in that company, the less desperate you'll appear, the more attractive candidate you'll be. The hiring process can be a very lengthy process.

I was strung along worse than that once going to multiple interviews, phone calls and email exchanges with this one company. I eventually took another job that made me an offer after two interviews. I later heard through the grapevine that the first company really did want to hire me and was going to make me an offer. I'm glad I didn't wait around for them because if it takes that long to make a hiring decision, imagine the process to get a promotion or a raise!

honestly, I would think it is just due to the holidays...I wouldn't even try to hire someone around the holidays, as lots of the folks that have to be involved are out of the office for the last several weeks of each year...

never put all your eggs in one basket, so you need to keep up your job search, but I wouldn't read too much into what you are seeing this time of year...

Dude one thing I have learned is that all HR depts suck. They don't take into consideration how important this is to you. To them, it's just a job they are stuck with because of their shitty psychology degree.

That hasn't been long enough. Give it more time. These processes take a long time, relatively speaking.

I in-person interviewed for a job before Thanksgiving and didn't get an offer until Dec 30th. And they considered that fast.

Good luck
