(CNSNews.com) - The FBI on Monday said 76 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2013; and another 49,851 officers -- 136 a day -- were assaulted while performing their duties last year, down from 53,867 assaulted in 2012.

Of the 76 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2013, 27 died in "felonious acts," well below the 49 feloniously killed in 2012. Forty-nine died in accidents.

Of the 27 officers killed feloniously in 2013, all but one were shot. One was hit by a vehicle.

I thought this was an attack on Leos. Being a Leo myself, I was concerned. I'm okay now.

76 is pretty damn low, considering the risks.

A good bit probably died from car accidents and being hit by motorists.

I'd like to know if crime against LEOs is falling while the cops are getting more aggressive.

Th stat could be skewed some due to the fact if you accidentally bump into a cop it's assault on a police officer.

Makes me kind of at the "risking their lives everyday" thing. 76 die out of what, one million?

27 is fairly damn realistic considering the exaggerated/imagined 'risks'the Aggressive Cop defenders would have us believe.

49 of those are car accidents probably making dangerous manoeuvres when they see the Dunkin Donuts lights come on.

4,405 construction workers were killed on the job in 2013 [BLS preliminary 2013 workplace fatality data] (3.2 per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers) – on average, 85 a week or more than 12 deaths every day.

Just for comparison.
