Looking for a restaurant for a rehearsal dinner in NOLA

Have gotten Toup's Meatery and Jacques-Imo's as suggestions. Don't think I can go wrong with either, but looking for options.

Number of people, budget, and food preference?

Where's the rehearsal? And Hotel guests will be staying at?

There could not have been a worse recommendation for a rehearsal dinner than that. That place is tiny, cramped, and feels overcrowded as hell.
Rehearsal dinners are expensive as hell in NOLA. Restaurants double their prices for the convenience of renting out their space. We need a lot more information to give you a good recommendation but more than anything number of people and budget.
I just went through this same exercise in the last few months as our rehearsal dinner is in January.

Calcasieu....upstairs events space at Cochon.
Cafe Reconcile has private rooms upstairs, if you want a feel-good/nonprofit, social do gooding aspect to the dinner.

I would not recommend either, but I think they were referring to the little banquet room next door, not in the original restaurant building.

Are you providing all the liquor with the meal? That'll run up the bill.

Call Muriels and ask about the upstairs private room.

does not sound like you are flexible on budget. I received quotes from about 10 restaurants and all of them were around $75 bucks a head after tax and tip and that does not even include liquor. You likely need to budget at minimum $100 bucks a head.
fwiw, we didn't want to spend so much money on a rehearsal dinner when we are having a huge arse expensive party the very next day at Pat O's on the river
we rented out the NOLA brewery for 3 hours and we are going to order in from Pizza Delicious and St. James Cheese for cheese plates and salads as apps. $25 bucks a head for open bar at the brewery (craft beer only), and the food will likely be under $15 a head when it's all said and done….for us it was by far the cheapest option and we also feel it will be the most fun option as well as it's 3 places we really like in the city and makes it more about us and not the restaurant

That sounds pretty solid. What do you do after the 3 hours?

Call Muriels and ask for Erin Costello..
they will put together a top notch event with tons of options depending on size of party and budget.

I've been to one here...it was nice but they had it partitioned off for another event in the other room and had to be cognizant of the timing for the speeches and stuff as to not disrupt the other event.

ralph's on the park has a few nice rooms upstairs for events like this

How are you surprised that a restaurant would ask for a minimum amount to basically shut down their restaurant for a night?
Especially on a Friday or Thursday night.
