Even when I am off, I am working.

I have confidence that my employees can and will do their job while I am gone. If they have a big problem I will get a call.

I can't ever leave work at work and really don't enjoy or go on vacation any more. Its gotten worst as i have gotten older, I have two places I'm comfortable going to, the duck camp and house at the beach. Additionally I can't handle being away from phone/email. FWIW I own the company. I have plenty of friends that role out and leave it all behind, it amazes me, but good for them.

You won't get anywhere without the help of others. You have to be able to trust them. If shite hits the fan you know you need to do a better job of delegating and providing meaningful instruction.

Hard not to take it seriously when you have significant responsibility, or when it's your name on the door.

They'll do fine, if not, they'll call.

I figure if they forget any fixins on the sandwiches, the customers will just remind them. Not my problem.

Did you go to Notre Dame? I'm curious because I think our lives might be similar.

I rarely think about work when I'm at home - I def don't when on vacation.

I disagree - there are always a few situations where it comes up but I think people allow their work to interfere with home life

I sometimes worry about work when I'm at home, but never when I'm out of town. If I'm home, they can call me to come in, if I'm out of town, they can't. I give 100% when I'm at work to have things set up well for when I'm off. That's all I can do.

Every day for a certain amount of time, I turn my phone off. I do this for family. Work can wait and family is more important.

My kids are gonna grow up fast and I don't want to hear the email ding, text, or phone call.

I love reading my kids books before bed time and playing games.

There is plenty of time to be serious and worry about work but there are times where I just completely step away from it and worry about the people I love

I think it's more people inviting that interference because their self identity is wrapped in the importance they put on their job. Its less an occupation than who they are. If they don't feel stress they don't feel needed and important. They need to feel like people depend on them to feel like they matter. Ebenezer Scrooge syndrome.

I own my own business. A vacation is more stressful to me than going to work. If I'm there at least I can keep an eye on things.

It's hard for me to balance life and work. They are so intertwined. I guess it isn't healthy, but I don't see too many people who don't take work seriously making great strides in life. I'm sure there are a few….but my business is important to me….sometimes too important.

I'm not my job. It doesn't define me. But your attitude changes when you sign a paycheck on the front rather than the back.

It's pretty petty and shitty to make fun of someone that has a job no matter what that job is.

It's even shittier to make fun of someone for taking pride in said job.
