We have St. Augustine in our front yard and this stuff is taking over. We have tried Scott's weed and feed to no avail.
It has small green buds all over it and some of the leaves have a slight red/pink color in them. What is this stuff and how can we kill it before it consumes our entire front yard?? TIA.

What wick said, kill it with 2,4D. It dies pretty easily.

Buttonweed. Take care of it quick because it will take over if you let it

Late in the year to try to kill it. Once it reaches flowering stage, suppression is about all you can hope for. Hit it in the spring with a broadleaf killer (2,4-D, Weed Free Zone, Trimec, etc.). May require a follow-up treatment 4-6 weeks later.

You should not use 2,4 d on St. Augustine---especially when it is actively growing.

This shite is intertwined all in our St. Augustine, any other recommendations?

Weed Free one by Fertilome works on Virginia buttonweed, but it will kill your St Augustine if applied in hot weather.

I have that too, I'm also fighting a clover that is taking over my centipede. Any ideas for that?

Nope. 2,4d is a broadleaf herbicide and St. Augustine is susceptible to injury and so is centipede and carpetgrass. Those grasses will normally grow out of the damage 2,4d causes BUT it can kill them if the plants are growing quickly and the whether is warm.
Good article from Dan Gill on it. LINK
FYI I do use 2,4d on my centipede at a low rate in the spring and fall with good results.
I would try 2,4d sometime this fall when the temperature cools or try some of the consumer products Dan recommends. Most of those are 2,4d derivates however.

thanks. at my camp i use a mix of glycophosphate and 2,4,d at 1/2 strength to keep from mowing grass all the time. i thought the 2,4,d was only working on on the stray woody that would try and pop up.

Try RM43 for that purpose. It kills weeds and grass for up to a year. It is glyphosate and imazapyr. It will kill trees so be careful.

celcius herbicide can be purchased at any John Deer Landscape< and it's is not Heat sensitive, bout 80$ for 10 ounces, Or get some MSM works just as good as celcius 24$
I have a bermuda lawn and use MSM, Put down a good pre emergent this fall, and again in the spring
