The smaller dynamic threat type or a bigger bodied WR? Let's talk team need/outlook and not just rate the potential draftee WRs...

Stills led the NFL with 20 yards per catch. He'll be 22 in a few weeks and is under contract through 2016.

Colston has been the go-to big WR for 8 seasons. The convergence of these two numbers make him a possible cut in 2015 and surely won't see 2016 with this contract.

Age-Yards Per Game-Cap Hit-Dead Money
28 81.6 .. n/a n/a
29 72.1 .. $3.3m .....0
30 62.9 .. $4.5m ... $14.6m
31 (2014) $8.3 ...... $10.1m
32 (2015) $9.7m ... $5.4m
33 (2016) $10.5m . $2.7

Colston replacement is needed sooner more than later. We can throw some long balls to Stills and Morgan. Toon fits the mold but it looked like he was benched last year (not active after game 10). I'll hope for him as long as he is on the roster. It looks like more of that than any expectation at this point.

I'll take Matthews.
Problem is I think there is little chance of him being available at our pick in the 2nd.
Big or small matters not to me. As I've said ad nauseam just get a explosive playmaking homerun hitting S.O.B. for CSP to play with. It will make all the others that much better on offence.

Edit Meant matthews

Stills and Morgan can stretch the field. What we need is some short area quickness that we lost in Sproles but in a reciever.

I want a big, physical receiver to match up against defenses like Seattle and the 49ers.

Exactly. That's why I've been a proponent of Cooks or OBJ

I like Benjamin also,

We ranked 12 in red zone scoring percentage last year. We left a lot of points on the field because we couldn't finish drives. And with the unreliability at the kicker position, we need TD's. Benjamin is a red zone threat.

Benjamin has so much bust potential to me.

slow 40: 4.61s
inconsistent hands
not great vs. press coverage

take away the florida game: 799 yards for the season and 12 TDs

4 games held under 50 yards

Between Jimmy 6'6/ Colston 6'4/ and a Matthews 6'4 or Benji 6'6/

Match ups would favor us. Which is more importantly than a "role" player.

Stills and Morgan can take the top off of defenses to stretch vertically.

If Graham takes your top corner or your best safety/ then the match ups favor us. Colston or Matthews would be getting covered by a nickelback...a matchup either should dominate. When that happens defenses will have to try something different. Allow Jimmy back into the passing game or get ran down your throat.

A role player can be drafted with a 5th or 4th round pick.

I like Cooks the best, but I like the combination of Fuller (CB) in the 1st, Moncrief in the 2nd, and either Huff or John Brown (Pitt St.) around the 5th better.

I really don't think Matthews is gonna be available at our pick in the second round. I hate to say it but I can really see us picking Benjamin if he's there.

Matthews is my favorite WR in this draft and #3 for me behind Watkins and Evans.. Cooks is 4.

I want a big-bodied receiver to replace Colston. Matthews fits the mold.. and there is just something to be said about consistency. He is easily the most consistent WR in this draft. Look at what he did over the course of his career at Vandy with complete no-namers at QB. Absolutely consistent. People are all over the balls of Watkins, but he had a HUGE drop in production in his soph year after a stellar freshman campaign.

I am a big fan of consistency vs prospective future ability. It's not the absolute rule for me (for example, Clowney has not been very consistent but his upside is impossible to overlook) but it's a general baseline. It's why I like Aaron Murray as a mid-late round flyer for us. Great consistency.

I would be thrilled if we took Matthews with our first pick. It's not looking likely as the rising of OBJ, Cooks and Benjamin has pushed him into the low-mid 2nd on most mocks. Doubt he falls to our 2nd pick. A lot of people would call it a reach if we took him at #27... But I know what we would be getting. Guy is going to be the best WR from this very deep class when it's all said and done IMO

this is honestly a case of I hope a team like houston, cleveland, oakland, etc. don't take a QB with their 1st.

Ideally, they would trade back into the late 1st (us) and grab someone like Carr, give us their 2nd + something else and it'd be high enough to grab matthews before a team like detroit, st. louis, tampa, etc. can grab him.

This. I watched him during Combine workouts and it seemed like he dropped a ball in every drill. He looked stiff too and kind of nonchalant.

I would be ok with "Reaching" for Matthews. I feel the same way. I think he is the 3rd best receiver in the draft and could arguably turn out to be the best when all is said and done. The two WRs ahead of him played with 2 of the best college QBs last year.

If we(FO) feel that highly about him the only way to get him besides trading back would be to nab him in the 1st. He will not make it to pick 54.

You can still draft a CB in the 2nd/C in the 3rd and BPA from there on out.

Would not be against at all

This is something CSP will look for no doubt...

Matthews or Donte Moncrief in the 2nd would be sweet. I'm a little more intrigued by Moncrief myself....6'2"- 220lbs. and runs a 4.4.
