With the Bucs potentially releasing Revis, he could soon be a free agent. There's no way the Saints will sign him, but I'm looking to have a little fun. Who would you rather have at $12mil a year, assuming that's how much Jimmy wants and Revis would take less than he's making now, Graham or Revis?

Graham. Already at the top of his position, and he hasn't hit his prime yet.

Graham.

Besides, Lewis > Revis.

Definitely debatable.. He has definitely hit his prime IMO. He is 27 1/2.. He is in his prime now. It started in 2011. He has maybe 2-3 seasons left in it.

that being said, Graham. The fact that we have Brees makes this an easy answer. Graham or Revis alone is a real debate, but Graham + Brees > Revis easily

Lewis is Younger, cheaper, and is a shutdown corner.

So yeah, Lewis > Revis

There are a number of things to look at, but imo Lewis in Ryan's scheme is better than Revis in Tampa's scheme last year.

I'll take revis and two 1st round picks over Graham.

All things being equal Revis all day. He's another year out of surgery and we would give him the chance to play man. With our pass rush he wouldn't have to do it all. I trust Payton and Loomis a lot more to draft a pass catching te than I do a shutdown corner.

Revis isn't the same player he was pre injury.

Revis played a year in a scheme that didn't play to his strengths, in his first year back from knee surgery. To say he isn't the same isn't really fair.

I'm gonna be different and pick revis.

The reasoning is because you'd get a 1st out of the JG trade. You pay a chunk of money to Revis. At best he's a #1 shutdown corner (which Lewis was last year) and at worst he'd be an island vs. #2 receivers. Two islands on one team <20mil. That doesn't happen everyday.

I'd say Revis is still the second best CB in the NFL behind Sherman. If you think that they're equal players, then you should go with CB as it is a more valuable position. I'd be a bit nervous about the offense with Graham leaving without any cheap draft pick compensation. I also think spending big on CBs is a bit overkill when you have a front 4 that can create tons of pressure. I'd go with Graham in our case, but Revis for most other teams.

Question for ya. Say another team signs JG for 11-12 mil per for 4 years . We don't match a we get 2#1's. What's the money look like without having to pay Jimmy, but instead paying 2 first rounders their rookie contracts. Will there be a surplus for us not matching Jimmy's offer' and still sign the #1's? Does any of that make sense?

Edit. Would we have more money left over if we said no to Jimmy and yes to the 2 first rounders?

I'll go against the grain here also. This is hypothetical, so I'll go with that.

Assuming Revis could be signed for $12 million (makes $16 mil now) and Jimmy is going to cost $10 mil to sign longterm.

Revis is 28. Will be 29 in July. No problem for a potential #1 in the NFL shutdown corner.

Jimmy is 27. Will be 28 in November. Prime of his career.

IMO, getting possibly the best shutdown corner in the NFL to play alongside Lewis would outweigh the loss of Jimmy. I would trust Payton (and Brees) to make use of other weapons instead.
