Just a campsite me and some friends can drive to and set up some tents and camp out for the weekend. It can be in a park or not, as of now we have decided on Percy Quin Park in Mccomb MS which is 2 and a half hours away. Just looking for something closer.

No we don't have a boat. Maybe we'll have a canoe.

I was gonna recommend Percy Quinn.

Also, Fontainebleau State Park and Tickfaw State Park

ETA: Or Buccaneer State Park

There is a good looking spot under a bridge down there. Seems to be quite popular with the locals.

Buccaneer Park in Bay St Louis is a good one. You can primitive camp in the back. Pretty neat spot IMO.

Speaking of this, can you camp at Jean Lafitte Nat. Park?

Man, when I was a kid, camping was the tits.

I'm 47, so this would be like late 70's. You had your Money Hill, Cherokee Beach (I think that's what it was called. On the Tangi River out of Tickfaw. Several cools places.

We used to go probably 15 weekends a year. I thought it was a blast. Fish, tube, ride bikes through the woods all day. Good times.

My favorite camping close to Baton Rouge is the black creek river in wiggins miss. Rent a canoe, float down, camp, then float to landing next day. Great in summer cause you can swim. Great in winter cause it's cooler.

Bring beer and whatever to cook grill. Last time I just slept on the beach.

Isn't there a state park in Springfield?

Don't know about Springfield. Maybe.

Going hike the Wild Azalea trail this weekend. I think we are only doing 20 miles of it. Some of the kids may not be able to do that much. Camp anywhere along the trail.

Download the maps and brochures here

26 mile trail. Goes from Woodworth to Lake Kincaid. This will be my first time hiking it. Blue Velvet would be able to tell you anything you need to know about it. Camp along the trail.

We have some scouts that won't make the whole 26 miles so we are starting about 7 miles from Woodworth. But we will have shuttle available to pull out sooner if needed.

I want to go with just my two sons and do the whole trail one weekend.

Also check into the Black Creek Trail in Mississippi. Desoto National Forest. I don't have a link to get maps. But google may find them. I think it's longer. I've only done 10 miles or so of it. Very nice the section we did.
