re: Gel coat baws: recommend me a restorer product - eng08
When I would repair a ding on my racing sailboat I did gelciat as a top layer, then wet sanded smooth, then you had to use the 3m compound to get the shine back. If you just went straight to wax you would notice the repair. The 3M compound I reccomend is like a 2000 or 3000 grit. I have used t...

re: Gel coat baws: recommend me a restorer product - eng08
New that is fine, but if you are doing an old boat or are trying to touch up repair spots then you will need a compound and then a wax. You use the compound to remove oxidation and buff up the gel coat back to a shine, then wax to protect it. ...

3M micro finishing compound "finesse it". It's like $50+ a bottle but it will last forever and you really don't need much. Then a good marine wax. ...

re: Nvidia on sale right now? - eng08
NVidia is a chip maker more than a game program developer. Those are two totally different areas. That being said nvidia and intel and some other chip makers have not gone up like most other stocks, they do appear to be undervalued especially when you consider every expensive device going forward...

re: Water damage caused by neighbor.... - eng08
Yep, get a survey to be sure, then tell him to fix it so it's not draining there. if he says no, politely ask him to leave , then start dumping a sack of ready mix on the pipe right as he is walking away. I suggest to just say truck it since he clearly doesn't care....

re: How are the NOLA pump stations not on the grid? - eng08
The motors are huge - like copper could 4-5 ft in diameter, old school stuff from 1910-1920 timeframe. Also - the pumps at the lake at the end of 17th street canal cannot keep up with the interior one. The one at the interstate will need to be shut off to keep the canal from overflowing....

re: How are the NOLA pump stations not on the grid? - eng08
The biggest pump is 14 ft diameter and made of wood impeller. They cannot figure out how or do not want to pay to make a similar size/volume pulp that is more efficient. There are also old pumps that used to run on neat Diesel engines - like a 16 cylinder WW2 submarine engine, that have thankfull...

re: someone explain to me this Coastwide Nutria Control Program - eng08
I think you can turn in tails for $5 each, but you can also sign up as a landowner authorizing others or yourself to do night hunting. Catch is preserving the tails - need like a 5 gallon bucket of salt to toss them in or a ice chest then freeze. They only pay for properly preserved tails....
