I brought this up in the other thread about the Stoeger M3000, but I figured it get more attention with it's own thread. Has anyone purchased a new firearm that just didn't work right out of the box? What was your experience dealing with the manufacturer?

I bought the M3000 last week after shooting the M2000 and liking the way it felt. I don't bird hunt much, so I didn't want to break the bank. I had heard a lot of good things about this gun for the price, so I went ahead and bought it. I shot a few rounds through it before taking it dove hunting this weekend, and all seemed fine. Didn't get many shots at doves, so we headed back to the camp to shoot clays. That's when we realized it didn't cycle anything consistently. About 70% of the time, the spent shell didn't leave the barrelThis is the first time that I'm going to have to deal with sending a gun back to get it working properly. I don't know what to expect as far as a timeline for getting the gun back and ever getting it to work. .

How many shells have been shot through it? Sometimes you need to shoot some heavier shells through a gun to break it in, or you might have got a dud. Were you shooting all the same type of shells or changing up?

I was shooting Federal Premium 2 3/4" 1 1/8 oz #7 1/2 Heavy Field Load high brass and didn't have any problems with the 7 shots I took. I then switched to a 1 oz Winchester Super X cheap stuff while shooting skeet and came across the problems. After that we shot anything we had. We had a grocery back full of all of the extra shells from the last few years. 2 3/4", 3", steel, lead, high brass, low brass, everything. I probably put 75 rounds through it and had problems with everything.

Trust me, I've read that . Going to bring the gun back to the shop that I bought it to see if they can do anything. If they can't find the problem, I'm going to have them send it in for me. This is my only shotgun right now and I don't want to be left without it for hunting season. Just started to get into duck hunting and it looks like another season of borrowing a gun. I've heard horror stories of how long it takes to get a gun back sometimes.

My Ruger SR9c had a weak striker spring when I first bought it. I sent it in and got it about 3 weeks later. Has been flawless ever since.

There's your problem. Double check and make sure in the manual that it doesn't say 1 1/8 oz minimum.

Buddy of mine that is real green to hunting/shooting bought a supernova without consultation from any of his friends that do hunt. I ended up researching it and figured out it was a certain piece not cut right in the trigger frame. Benelli sent him a replacement free of charge and I had it in there in about 30 minutes. No problems since.

I have the 3500 and it's a damn good gun..I tried to shoot some 1 oz loads and it jammed once never used em again and have shot hundreds of rounds through it!

Read the manual...it says NO 1 oz loads it will only shoot 1-1/8 oz and higher...

I've known a few people with this gun and I've shot the 2000 (they don't make the 2000 anymore. They made some slight upgrades and call it the 3000 now). I'm not new to guns in general. I've torn down every gun I own. None of us could figure out what exactly was happening.

And it isn't just the cheap, light shells . The expensive, heavy stuff didn't work either.

I purchased a new sig sp2022 .40 and to this day it will not shoot a mag without hanging up at least once. I thought it just needed breaking in but still no relief I guess I'm going to break down and send it in for inspection.

Have you pulled the gun apart and clean the factory grease.

Took it down and cleaned it before shooting.

It's not just the light loads. The rounds wouldn't budge out of the barrel. It would try to load the next round (so you know it blew the bolt back far enough) and it would push the shell up into the back of the round in the chamber. One shell stuck bad enought that we had to push it out with a cleaning rod. There is something going on with the headspacing in my opinion.

The question really isn't whether or not something is wrong with the gun. Several knowledgable shooters have looked at it with me. It's more about what it will take for me to get it fixed.

This really sucks because I had heard good things about these guns but this thread will ruin it for me forever.

Don't let it ruin your opinion on them, I read bad things about them and have three guys I hunt with have them with no problems. so I got one anyways and never regretted it since..I put several hundred rounds through it light to heavy and no problems!

Sucks bad. I was shooting much better with this gun than the expensive shotguns I've shot. It just fit me well. Plus I didn't want to spend $900-$1500 on a shotgun, because I don't bird hunt that much. I really hope it's a problem that is easily fixed. Everyone else that I know that has been around them has never heard of any problems.

My baikal semi auto does not cycle 1oz loads, it runs like a top on the 1 1/8 oz loads or more.

It's just a little quirk the lower cost semi-autos have.
