I have one like that I bought on black friday for $50. Works fine. It's an HP.

I take that back. Its a Canon, not an HP.

Check out the 'Brother Printers', I have a Brother MFC -415w works flawless and the ink is super cheap.

We have an hp 5510 or something like that. It was pretty cheap, $70 or so, but it's one of the best ones I've had so far.

I have a Canon at home. Nice printer but I've only had it a few months.

i like my Brother laser printer

my last Epson was a money pit. it would show the cartridges being empty when they were still 3/4 full of ink

MFC-J835DW

On sale at Best Buy right now for $99. I have never printed photos with it, but it does everything pretty well. It's wireless, it scans, copies, prints, has document feeder, takes any type of media, etc...

Ink is cheaper than for the Canon I had before, but I don't know if that's because technology is getting better.

It's been very reliable and it has a relatively small footprint.

Depends on what you need. Epson Artisan 837 can usually be had for about $130 and is about the best quality photo inkjet printer I've seen. If you're just printing papers and stuff for school then your best bet would probably be an HP Officejet 6600 for around $110. If you need something more high volume then the HP Officejet Pro 8600 is often around $150 and about as good as you can find ink-wise for a reasonable price range.

This is probably the same one I have. It prints good photos on it, but I'm sue not the best if you are serious about quality.

I really love the document feeder for scanning/copying. Printing from my phone is effortless.

My office has a similar version that can handle larger paper, and it also prints well.
