Watched it last night. I didn't laugh once. Not even a giggle.

Yes he isn't too over the top like all of his other movies. Plus, I though the movie was very well written and tells a good story

Watched this last night with the wife. Rebel Wilson had me rolling most of the movie.

Bring It On (Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Gabrielle Union) - I've seen it no less than a dozen times

A few mentioned already that fit for me:
Alpha Dog
Kick-arse
Pitch Perfect

All exceeded expectations.

recently watched Warrior and feel it falls in to this category for me. I was really hesitant to watch it

seriously? why? I was completely intrigued when I first heard about it/watched a preview.

it's in my top 10 films of 2011.

That movie with Kevin Bacon where his son gets killed and he seeks revenge on the gang leader. Buys guns from John Goodman and turns out he's the gang bangers dad

I don't know, I just didn't see how the whole brother angle was going to work and assumed it was just going to be dumb from the previews I saw. I'm pretty pessimistic about fighting movies in general, especially MMA ones.

Die Hard 4. The end was weak and no "Yippee kye yae, MF" but still.

A few years back I moved away for graduate school and after meeting a couple of girls at orientation, they invited me to go see Stardust with them. I usually stay away from movies that look like crap but in the name of trying to make friends I went. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Also, I thought Rise of the Planet of the Apes was going to be terrible but I liked it a lot.

Ditto on Sex Drive and Kickass.

Universal Soldier 4 .... and I'm not the only one. Village Voice and the Atlantic Monthly called it one of the best action movies of the year.
