Looks like one of the principals that started the play in class mess. Now wants all selective admissions schools playing football in their own groups....

Which would put schools like Karr and U-high in with private schools.

Also hearing that several principals want to revisit the play up rule or amend it to make any school playing up to go all the way up.

and there is a lot of support for football only classifications.

under what will be proposed.. only haynesville, neville and barbe would have been in the "regular" state championships.

I don't believe that Karr is still a selective admission school.

That's why they're pushing it, because all the champs this year were private or magnet schools. Neville tried to be a charter school this year too and are still working on it btw. So it would've just been Haynesville and Barbe. I'm for them playing all the way up if they choose to play up. I'm not for splitting private/public though.

apparently some schools voted for the play up because they were told some things that didn't work out like they planned..

Really it's all about Curtis and Evangel. and for one principal.. which ever non public school that beats his.

and the catholic league.

They are a charter school that is not bound by an attendance zone. They can pull kids from anywhere in Orleans parish.

but they have kids from Jefferson and even plaquemines...

jj I am not for a split either....

but Curtis and ECA need to be in 5a....period..for football at least.. I know the catholic league don't want that.. but...

it's funny how the Neville principal don't like whomever beats his school.. won't play wm.. wants Karr in another class...

the catholic league got what it wanted.... maybe now it's time for them to give a little and get ECA and JC....

everyone wants an easy road to playoffs. try this one.....every school plays in the district it is in by boys in 9-12 grades---play season---then any school private/selective/charter/church...any one who allows students to attend w/o living in that schools legal area........you play in A or AA private playoffs........it is fair and wise..

It's all cyclical, how many years has West Monroe dominated 5A? I'm not too familiar with them, but isn't Acadiana a public school as well?

There are a lot of broken homes and apartment complexes in Algiers, easy to get an address in Orleans parish.

OP Walker is also a charter school. There are actually quite a few charter schools in NOLA, and fewer and fewer that are bound by an attendance zone.

attendance zone lies with whom has custody of the kid...... if they don't live with that person... they must sit out a year if attending a school outside zone.. ask helen cox about this...

and this rule made me ineligible .... TWICE

I mean really, what's the point of this association? Kind of like the NCAA? I wish about 20 major high schools/college teams would just say "frick YOU" and go out on their own.

The only reason they "think" they have power is because the schools "let."

Jesuit principal got the current play up one class rule pushed through to get the league back together..

some of their principals were part of the original play in your enrollment class because of ECA in 5a and the talk of Curtis being in their district.. prior to katrina.

then when katrina came along... and juggle the numbers.. the catholic league has led the charge on play up.. as long as it didn't put curtis or eca with them.

Most Charter schools can pull from neighboring parishes.
