can't get over how much the fanbase has changed since I graduated in 07.
you think it just started in 2008?

If these ridiculous threads do nothing else, they always seem to act as perfect barometers of how long certain posters have been following LSU football.

Ok, let me come clean. I moved to LA in 94. I was a kid. My parents were not from here, so I had no LSU roots. I really started following LSU in 97, and got to go to my first game in Tiger Stadium in 98. I've been hooked ever since. I wasn't here for the Curly years, etc, so what I have to base my opinion on is the rise of the current era in LSU football. You have to start somewhere, and if that makes me less of a fan because of geography, then kiss my arse. My diploma says Louisiana State University, and I'm willing to bet a lot of the people that have been "lifelong fans" have never set foot on that campus for anything but athletic events. :endrant:

There is a difference between the fanbase between 03 and today. Just the way I hear people talk about it is different. Yall are spot on about earlier statements that the whole "day" seems to be more important than the game. My opinion is that its success and the inability for our fanbase to handle it. Wasn't too many years ago that I recall a massive buzz around the state when LSU got to go to the I-Bowl.

The recent election confirms that it is not only ok, but it is mandatory that you tell others how they must behave, how to spend their money, what they must like and dislike, what they should eat and of course, exactly what they should think. Others are now experts about your life conditions. I can't wait until we are taxed for all of it too.

Yup, it'll be confiscation of the rich people's tickets so that the more unfortunate can get to go instead. And when those unfortunate people leave early, then they will have to be banned and let someone else take their place. This place will get more crazy

If the game weren't so close I would have left early because I was wearing shorts & tshirt in the upper west and was freezing my arse off. But it was worth it to see Loston's pic6 because he's been somewhat frustrating to watch this season IMO

Here's a suggestion: give your tickets to fans that care more about the game than all the other stuff, you can go to all the parades and parties and tailgates you want and our team will be supported by real fans when they need it.
Or the fans that care more about the game should purchase the tickets, preferably at face value, as Kajungee recommended. Or does wanting to watch the game because you care (but only at a discount) disqualify you from being a real fan? I can't keep track anymore.

I actually think the "leavers" and "stayers" should fight outside the stadium. The "leavers" are already there of course, having left early.

Anybody bitching in this thread who wasn't out there and watched on tv, need to STFU. People were practically giving tickets away 3 hours before kickoff.

As you just said, this never seemed to be an issue in the past.

Years ago it was not possiable to walk out the stadium and watch the end of the game on TV in the parking lot while enjoying a cold beer.

But don't you like being able to kick back and spread out when people start to leave? I don't know about you but I don't like rubbing up against other men. You Gould thank the people for slowing you comfort and still paying for the ticket that goes to the program.

This, along with the point earlier about tailgating being the priority now, is really probably the biggest part.

I hear people all the time nowadays saying they are skipping the game entirely because they won't be able to get there until "almost game time".

This has a lot to do with fans leaving early, no doubt.

Sell your freaking tickets to people who would actually like to watch the Tigers play football and are not interested in the LSU social Saturday night Wine & Cheese party.

I had 2 extra tickets that I literally could not give away until 15 min before kickoff while walkin to the stadium. Get off your freekin high horse. It was mississippi st. (aka. The landmass between NO and Mobile)

A lot of people (aka pussys) left because it was cold and they didn't bring any kind of jacket to keep the wind out.

I stayed till the end, but the three most likely reasons:

1. It was homecoming, the majority of people drank a little more than usual and more people came in than usual.

2. Saints v. Falcons in the dome.

3. When is the last time we lost to Miss. St.?

- Thank you very little.

Leaving early has to do with the South LA Catholic heritage and leaving church after communion is served.

Pay for the tickets and stay till 00:00. Win or lose - we stay. And yes, for you non-believers, we stayed for every second of the National Championship too - but not one second after.
