I hear some people are staying on but the owner(s) of Mr Johns as well as some other investors are taking it over and it will be an American steakhouse/bistro. Should be interesting to see how that works out- the location is one of the best in the city imo.

Great space for sure. I used to work across Lafayette Square and had some fun lunches back in the early 90's.

Oh well. This makes 4 or 5 failures in a row now for Vicki Baily.

My opinion on the place was this. There were some very good dishes and some that weren't good at all. And reviews were always mixed from people I knew.

It is the worst location in the city. The problem is you have to run the restaurant and the bar on the other side of the lobby. That has killed more restaurants and deals than just about anything. The Ruth's Chris reopened post K was supposed to go there until Corporate came in and said, "Are you effing nuts?"

I meant from a patron standpoint- large windows overlooking the park and St Charles that can be opened when the weather is nice. And you can usually park on the side of the restaurant by the park because nothing else is open at night in that block. I could see it being a huge pain in the arse if you ran the place and had to deal with the split.

I went to a luncheon there and parking was non-existent. Had to park in s skid row area near Lee's Circle, had winos' (some of my fellows F&D posters I'm sure) milling around when we tried to leave.

Never went back. It would of been better if we were visitors using cabs. The food was excellent, just not worth my life.

Desi is opening it. Some of the staff from Mr Johns are gonna work over there..... He told us about the plans, sounds good to me. I like the spot.
