From the OT: DEA prisoner forgotten about for 5 days

LINK

quote:

He said agents questioned him, and then told him he could go home. One agent even offered him a ride, Chong said. No criminal charges were filed against him.
But Chong did not go home that night. Instead, he was placed in a cell for five days without any human contact and was not given food or drink. In his desperation, he said he was forced to drink his own urine.

quote:

He said when employees discovered him in the cell that they looked confused and nervous. A DEA employee rode with him to the hospital, where they paid for Chong’s visit.
He spent three days in the intensive care unit at Sharp Hospital and his kidneys were close to failing.

Obviously, this is just a problem with "those particular officers". Not the system overall.

quote:

Chong said he was at a friend’s house in University City celebrating 4/20, a day many marijuana users set aside to smoke, when agents came inside and raided the residence. Chong was then taken to the DEA office in Kearny Mesa.

Was his friend a big dealer/distributor?

If not, why is the DEA raiding his house? Dont they have bigger fish to fry?

So, this means they don't have a janitor or night sweeper to clean the place up? That's odd.

Budget cuts. This problem is clearly due to a lack of funding.

He found and ingested crystal meth in the holding cell? WTF?

Clearly, just as it was with the ATF and Fast and Furious. If we would just give these already inefficient and ineffective agencies MORE money, they would obviously perform better. /sarcasm

Good thing that War on Drugs is keeping people like this Chong fella locked up. I wouldn't want him loose in our society, eating up all the Doritos and giggling at shitty jokes.

Those funds were transfered to the Justice Department so they could send more weapons across the US/Mexican border......

the cartels need more fire power to get their drugs into the U.S.!

The 23-year-old spoke with NBCSanDiego and said he was increasingly worried throughout the days he spent in a 5 ft. by 10 ft. cell, where he could not spread his arms out wide.

His wingspan is longer than 10ft???? He needs to play in the NBA!!!!!

Not sure how many read the whole article, but he is UC San Diego student: It's a newer university, and doesn't have the name recognition of say a Cal or Michigan, but it is an extremely selective university (average incoming Freshman GPA is a 4.08) with world class programs in many fields, life sciences especially.

So obviously he is an dangerous, unproductive bum; glad the DEA got him off the streets.

Unless he's shorter than 5' tall, he had to lie down the long way. Which means he only had 5' to spread his arms to the side.

Yup.

But at who's expense ultimately?
