Go to Gruene, eat at the Grist Mill or Gruene River Grill and catch a show at Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest dance hall

Huisatche is probably the best place to eat around there

The Greune River Grill and the Greune Onion arent bad. The Gristmill is easily the most over-hyped biggest disappointment you will find.

but, there's something to be said for pulling up to Adobe Verde after drinking all day on the river and eating shitty mexican food with a gigantic margarita

and, you have to go to San Marcos to grab a Tap Room burger...will make you rethink life

Gruene River Grill
Excellent lunch spot. Also try every margarita and salsa you can find in San Antonio. Also Shipley's donuts are legit. There are also some excellent German Bakeries in New Braunfels.

The Gristmill gets the ratings cause of the awesome patio more than the food. It's a must see at least to have an app and drink on the patio.

Check out Clear Springs out on 46 east of town. Good catfish, chicken fired steak and the like. It's pretty popular amongst the locals.

NB is a wonderful place to be in the spring and summer. It's a circus on the weekends due to Schlitterbahn and the rivers.

ETA: I failed to mention Cooper's BBQ, one of the best around. Near Rudy's a bigger chain but also solid Q.

Breakfast Tacos=Hanna's Kitchen (take cash, they are real mexicans)

Other mexican food that I like is El Napalito (Get the Chili Rellano with cheese enchilada)

Horse racing track just south of there off hwy35.

Tap room in san marcos is top notch, get a beer of the world card. Lots of fun here.

Downtown New Braunfels bar's close at 12, so just prepare for that.

Get to the rivers as much as you can. Lots of college tail floating around.

I went to school in San Marcos and family lives in New Braunfels. Anything else you wanna know just ask.

Enjoy it, I am trying to get back there as fast as possible.

We just went to San Antonio for spring break.

Fredericksburg has some really awesome German brewhouses/restaurants.

Treat yourself one morning and drive into San Antonio for breakfast at the Guenther House.

One weekend, drive to Port Aransas with some buddies and pay a local a few hundred bucks to take you out in the bay and catch a shitload of redfish and black drum. They will taste delicious.

The Root Cellar in San Marcos has some great food for breakfast or lunch, haven't had dinner there.

Pat's Place in New Braunfels is one of my favorites for a good burger and some great cheese enchilladas. Right next to the Comal.

Ate at Silo in San Antonio few weeks ago....great food cool little bar.

I haven't been to these but hearing good things
Ranger Creek Brewery

Cinco Vodka

Rebecca Creek DistilleryPretty good whiskey

Garrison Brothers Distillery

You aren't far from Lockhart, BBQ capital of the world....I prefer Smitty's but Kreuz isn't bad either.

Kreuz Market

Black's

Smitty's

If going to Fredericksburg make sure to stop here, one of best burgers in Texas. They were on the cover of Texas Monthly for their best burger feature a few years ago.

Alamo Springs Cafe
