I've got some BBQ pulled pork that I had in the freezer. I thawed it out in the fridge. Will it be ok if I put it back in the freezer? TIA

Probably but I wouldn't freeze it a 3rd time.

So it was cooked, frozen, thawed, now frozen again?

You shouldn't risk it. Bring it to me and I'll dispose of it for free.

I know some people do but I don't. I will cook something and freeze it in small portions then just discard what is left after that meal. My mom has a friend that will reheat a dish multiple times and just keep putting it back in the fridge

I usually follow this rule with a protien(roast, chicken, etc), but with a gumbo, stew, soup, ect., I'll recook it for a few minutes, then cool and refreeze...rarely happens but I've done it..and I'm still here.

It won't hurt you, but the quality may be well below sub par.

I don't do it.

Freeze once, thaw, eat, pitch.

Yeah, I had some people coming to stay at the house, but they had to cancel. I had taken it out to make sandwiches for them.

Will it kill you?

probably not

I doubt it will taste much like it did when it was originally cooked though

I'm a freeze one time kind of guy...
I tend to look at it like beer for some reason. You don't want your beer going hot then cold then hot then cold again...

It doesnt make a difference if its natty. I have had beers that went from hot to cold sooo many times. Still gets you drunk. Now on the other hand I would probably throw out a newcastle that got hot.

There is a reason not to refreeze frozen meats. During the initial thawing process the bacteria that was dormant in the freezer become active again and multiply. If you use some then refreeze the bacteria level can get too high the next time you thaw. You would have to heat it up to boiling point between each thaw to start the process over again. The quality of the meat would suffer considerably.

Use your judgement, but you must heat to killing level between thaws.

TBH, I've done it my fair share too, I just try not to...
