Anyone have a '16 yet? I drove one today. The 6 speed trans seems really sluggish and almost felt like it wasn't sure where it needed to be.
There is a '15 on the lot now, but they have it listed for exacty what I could get the same truck in a '16 for.

If you had an 08' and didn't get the recall notice for the leaf spring replacement then that just further proves my point that Toyota has fell along way in their integrity in dealing with recall issues.

It is for 05-11 and wasn't issued until 2014. I bought my 12 new so I didn't own the 08 when the recall occurred. They already had a TSB that would give free leaf replacement, so I don't see where their integrity should be in question.

I bought a 4 door Tacoma TRD in 03 (my son was 4-years-old). I took good care of it and drove it until March of last year; in December of last year I gave it to my son (now 16-years-old) with a 198k miles on it, and it still looks great and everything is tight on it - no rattling and squeaking. Best vehicle I've ever purchased by far!

One thing though: when I bought it in 03, it was only about 1k more than a newer used one, and I could have purchased a loaded full-sized chevorlet for the same price

Raz4Back, did you trade in the '05 & ''08, or sell them yourself?

Curious how you did on resale?

By rule, I never buy new vehicles, but for a Taco, I can't justify paying what they are asking for the used ones.

I can't convince myself to pull the trigger on any other make right now.

I traded them.

05 was an SR5 Double Cab Long bed 4x4 with 92,000 miles and I got 19k in trade for it in 08. I paid 24.5k in 06.

08 was a TRD Off Road DCSB 4x4 with 96,000 miles on it and I got 20k in trade in '12. I paid 28.5k new.

A note to all reading this:

Always trade before 100K.

All vehicles, even Tacomas, take a pretty good hit if they are showing 100K on the clock.

Thanks Raz4Back.

Driving a relatively new Tacoma for less than $2500.00/yr. is pretty good.

Sounds like you should be ready for a new '16 model. Care to sell me your '12? ??

I am looking at Tacomas now. There is a 2015 with 5k miles on it. It would be sold as certified. Being certified it would come with 7yrs/100k powertrain warranty. I think I can get it for $31k.
I can order a 2016 exactly like it for $32k. What would the OB do?

I have a '16. I like it so far. This is my first one so I can't compare but I get what you mean about the transmission not knowing what it should be in. No other problems though.

I had a brand new tundra for 2.5 yrs and sold it for $5k less than what I paid for it.
Had just under 30k miles.

Nothing holds its resale like a Toyota.

That being said, if you're looking for one why buy used? Getting let's say 3-5k on vehicle that no telling what someone else had done to it.

Because the fuel milage sucks and with small gas tanks you are constantly filling them up.

glad to get rid of that 2002 Tundra. Had driveline problems We couldn't fix.

Obvious answer.

Plus, you keep your trucks a long time so that $1K savings gets really small when amortized over time.

I've been casually looking for a truck recent

I love it. Bought my 2006 in 2011 for $9k on Ebay and It's worth $10k right now. I'm thinking of selling it soon to get a 4runner or a f250.
