Meh. The market doesn't think so. Thus the price.

What gives?

Performance in the market has a value. If they don't maintain that performance, over time the price will get dragged back down, but it is a trailing indicator.

Was the only recall on Tacomas ever the floor mat thing?

I had that happen on my 99. Foot was jammed up in there, and it took too long to pull my foot out, so I ran a red light. Got Husky mats that week

I've got three open on mine right now, 2007 - 1. Spiral cable in steering column; 2. floor mat trim; 3. frame inspection for rust.

Let's not forget the rattling windows if they are not fully up or fully down.

or the vibration issues in the drivetrain that they fixed for the '16 models despite swearing for 7 years that they didn't have them

Oops...and of course there are the broken leaf springs that can rupture the gas tank and cause a fire

yep... nothing to be concerned with

I don't have the window rattle issue nor the drivetrain vibe. Throwout bearing chirp is another on mine, and had the clutch in my truck replaced at about 33K and on the same clutch since.

Funny thing on the leafs, I'm considering replacing mine with OME Dakars but can't quite pull the trigger. I emailed ARB to inquire where the Dakar springs are made, Malaysia/Phillipines IIRC (don't quote me on that), but dude said they make the OEM springs for the Hi-Lux. WTF?

Yea because Toyota gets the money when someone sells their used Tacoma.

They aren't overpriced. It's what people will pay

I've had an '05, '08, and now a '12 and never had any of those issues.

My clutch pedal squeaks like a SOB. I've greased and lubed everything under the dash and can't get it to disappear.

Every toyota with on frame construction in a non rusty state can hit 400k miles.

That's why they are high.

If you had an 08' and didn't get the recall notice for the leaf spring replacement then that just further proves my point that Toyota has fell along way in their integrity in dealing with recall issues.

Probably should have gotten it on the '12 as well.

Check Tacoma Nation and read up on it if you have any doubts.

They are priced high, because that's what the market calls for them to be priced. They are in high demand, and supply lessens each day.

True, I've gotten two letters on the springs, had forgotten that. No remedy yet.

I looked all over for one when I sold my grand Cherokee and was wanting a 4wd truck or suv. Couldn't find one less than 5 years old for under 20k. Ended up buying my jeep off of Craigslist. I wouldn't mind getting an older one for a 3rd vehicle just to have as a spare but even older ones command 8k.

Mine squeaked but the dealer greased it when I had clutch replaced and hasn't done it since. Check outside the cab, too. Mine will squeak at times when I clutch but the noise is outside the cab.

I've got an '09 TRD Pre-Runner. Just approaching 102,000 miles and still runs like brand new. Just routine maintenance.
