I also know that when I'm ragging on a group of guys screwing around and call it a "circle jerk", that they are not actually standing in a circle jerking each other off. Sometimes, people say things to describe something that isn't the actual meaning.
Totally agree that is why I in no way berated the guy. I made a point of disagreeing with the unusually aggressive approach of fishfighter also. In fact, I actually invited the fella this way to see a huge school of fish busting the surface if he wants. It happens pretty regularly on our lakes.
Personally, I would love to see a red tide especially one that exhibits photoluminescence. I never have had that experience. Of course I would not want it to last long and cause too large of a fish kill but a natural phenomenon like that would be pretty interesting.
And for the record I wouldn't mind seeing a large school of redfish busting the surface either as I have not seen that.

I saw an orange tide once.

meh, i thought you handled it fine, and were correct. Strangely hypersensitive folks on the Board today.

Pulled these 2 out of a redtide a few weeks ago off the coast of Last Isle. School was easily 1000+ redfish all which were this size. Saw some big jacks in there as well. This thread is pathetic.

I also understand it creates ambiguity in conversation that need not be.
how ambiguous is this?

Red tide to me is breaching schools of reds buddy
I am 100% sure everyone knew exactly what he was speaking of, hell there was a video of it and the first response was about what he 'expected' to see, and that was a bunch of redfish.
No one misunderstood the OP.

ETA: Thought about hitting you up Sunday for a beer but rain started picking up about the time I was driving through your area.

Was on TB Sunday. Catching perch on lead headed hooks with plastic attachments that feel like rubber and sorta look like a shinner.

Mrs. Couyon and I were on Sanibel Is. last September and chartered a trip with Capt. Pabon. We got on 1 school twice. It is truly amazing to see how fast the schools work. We would get ahead of them throw into the school and catch, release then swing wide and get in front again.
Just my luck: the day before, he and a client were on 5 different schools. The weather changed the night before our trip and blew out the north and they weren't near as active. Had a lot of fun with the reds and caught mangrove snapper also. Good time!

Damn dude.
I don't really get your "well I'm old school and they're trash fish because powpow" bit either. Real old school folks throw away no fish. Give em a redfish the they're gonna scale the damn thing. Keep throwing them all back though. More for me to catch . Drum, sheepys, and white trout are also all trash fish. Don't keep those.
Cool video OP. They're right about the technicalities, but I knew what you were talking about.

But I always associated red tide with poor water quality and fish kills like the rest of the scientific world.
As part of the "scientific world" I knew exactly what this guy meant. What's wrong with people?
Congrats OP on a cool experience. Would love to get into one of those and slay some reds.

Jesus Christ, for someone with supposed knowledge about fishing, you sure manage to sound ridiculous.
OP called you names AFTER your condescending post which belittled him and his experience. Grow up OLD man.
This thread would be improved if you had never posted in it. That should tell you something.
