My dad is very sick with cancer and called me today saying he wants to go on one last fishing trip. Any suggestions on where to take him (freshwater) so he can wear them out one more time as he grew up fishing everyday. TIA.

I don't have any suggestions for you, I've never freshwater fished, but prays going up to you and your family bud. I'm sure it's tough but he will love every minute of this fishing trip whether or not y'all rip a single lip

Man, my suggestion -- if you can afford it... find the best guide available. Let the guide do all of the work and you focus on spending quality time with your pops.

No suggestion as I do not do a lot of freshwater fishing but I pray that you and your father have the trip of a lifetime.

Yeah its apparently an awesome place, I met Mark Zona at the bassmaster classic last year, and he highly recommended it.

Where do you live? How far will you travel?

Fish are biting on Toledo & there is a big white perch lake/guide around Tyler Tx

This. Catching fish will just be a bonus.

I don't have any advice but I just wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bring a camera and enjoy the moment.

Grosse savanne is fantastic recommendation ! Do it and stay the night at the lodge. Wish I had done this last trip with my dad. Speak to Claude leach , owner , he's a good guy!

politics aside, Buddy is an awesome guy

ETA: To the OP, this is a wonderful idea. Those who run Grosse Savanne are nothing but class and you won't regret it. God bless you and your father

So sorry to hear about your dad. I got one last trip in with my dad but didn't realize he was sick at the time.
Enjoy your time together and give him a few extra hugs and I love you's.

I lost my dad 3 years ago and it still hurts.

Absolutely take him to Grosse Savanne. Went there this summer and that place is incredible. They have a private 500ish acre bass fishing lake and I guarantee you will catch as many fish as you want. It's full of bass, crappie and bream, with the bass being catch and release and the crappie/bream you can take home.

I know nothing about fresh water, I'm like everyone else, just want to offer up a prayer.

That said, where are you? Gone a guide so someone else can do the hard work. You enjoy your dad.

If you can't afford one, I'll chip in via PayPal. Seriously.
