$1000 limit

Would like to hold 10 long guns (half with scopes) comfortably and have room for some filling folders and other important stuff.

Must have 30min 1200F or greater rating. Must be able to bolt to the floor.

Must be made in USA. Preferably mechanical lock but I'm fine with electronic.

ETA: corrected for the correctness nazis

If you live in BR, go to Mike Wards Liberty Safes. They can get you squared away.

Liberty Revolution 24 is around $750. The Revere starts at $1300. I have a Fatboy jr, and i like it alot.
Scopes take up a ton of room. A 24 gun safe with 12 guns and 6 of them scoped will be tight.

My brother just picked up a cannon scout I think from academy for 899. It's a 52 gun I believe. I have a cannon and am happy with it as well

None are fireproof. They have several different levels of fire resistance. Gotta decide how important that is to you. You can get a larger safe and forgo fire resistance, or you can get a more fore resistant safe with more space.

ETA: I would also go and talk to the Mike wards people. I think they do cheap delivery. Depending on what you buy, that could be expensive. I was quoted $500 by two separate companies to move it from my garage to a bedroom.

I've done some safe shopping in the past. This video helped me out quite a bit. There are a lot of safes out there in the $1000 price range that look beefy and well made but are actually quite flimsy. Make sure you check the details of whatever you buy before you load it up with valuables.

Make sure you get one with room for several hundred thousand rounds of your favorite ammo. A safe is a great purchase. Don't short change yourself and get one too small. The older you get, the more shite you put in one. I've got numerous guns, ammo, family docs (birth certificates, tax returns, photos, marriage certificates, property deeds), cash, etc in mine.

Will watch later.

I'm surprised to see $1200 "safes" made out of 11ga steel.

Seems like I could make one out of 1/2" AR plate and refrac line it for a wholeeeeeeeee lot less. Why so expensive?

Many of the big box store safes are just thin bent steel around drywall. They call it composit so it sounds durable. In reality they aren't very secure as you could imagine.

This website opened my eyes to what constitutes a real safe.

Worth reading before you buy for sho

I don't know a whole lot about them. I know my old man's safe isn't that big and was the heaviest thing on earth but it looks like it's all in the door.

Seems like a pissed off guy with a metabo and Google could make real short work of the sides.

Maybe I should build one

Probably would be a fun project. It looks like I could get some 1/4" hard faced plate and refractory and have a much heavier duty safe than most offer. Can you just buy the door?

I know some companies sell vault doors.

If you want some real security from theft you need as much steel as possible and you need it bolted down. Fireproofing is another factor to consider.

A safe is really just one phase of security for a gun collection.

Safe
Home security system
Insurance for guns
Stealth (i.e. - not advertising you own a group of guns)

I'm mostly concerned with keeping my shite locked up from drunk friends and meth heads. If my house burns down or a pile of professionals break in while I'm on a week long work trip I'll have bigger problems than loosing some guns and tax returns.

I want the best I can get for $1000. I only have 6 long guns and no intention to buy more. Two of them are extremely cheap and don't have to go in there.

Bought a steelwater 39 gun last year. Really am pleased with it. Can't beat free shipping to your door!
