I shouldnt have assumed that because you missed the mark on a far shot that you weren't a rookie at shooting at far distances. My fault.
No. fricking. shite.

200 yards is not a high percentage shot. That's just as unethical as shooting for the head and clipping the bottom jaw off.

My 12yo son killed a doe at about 199 yds yesterday. I will tell him to never do that again because dnm3305 from the internet says it's unethical.

Obviously you lack reading comprehension as well.

Reading is tricky stuff. I'd rather look at the pictures.

For Jack Daniel,
I may have missed the answer as it may have been buried in the 4-5 pg long OT imitation, but I'm still curious as to the scope picture at the time of the shot.

It's good to analyze the circumstances after the shot (presence and what type of hair, how the deer reacted and such), but in my experience you're more likely to find the answer to what happened by analyzing the shot itself. You, and only you, know the circumstances of the shot: where were the crosshairs, how fast was the deer moving, how steady was the rest, did the crosshairs make a bad movement at the last second, etc.). If you hit the buck in the chest w/ a 185 gr 300 WSM bullet you should have a dead deer inside of 100 yards and a noticeable blood trail after 20-30 yards max.If you hit the deer in the paunch, you'll prob have little, if any, trail to follow, but you should still have a dead deer, but it may be many hundred yards down the trail. Clear your mind and reflect on the shot for a few moments and I bet you'll find your answer.

Your being racist to 200 yards. 200 yards deserves some shooting time. 200 yardis' mom is going to post it on the internets that you discriminated against her baby.

200 yards is more than capable of doing the job but you hired the younger 100 yard. I say discriminating on age.

Shame. DIAF
