200 yards is not a high percentage shot. Probably shouldnt have taken it. That's just as unethical as shooting for the head and clipping the bottom jaw off.

Without anything else, this was your first statement.

Then you said you are Robin Hood, Byron Ferguson, John Rambo, and Catniss from the Hunger Games all wrapped into one badass package.

Hair was white with brown. I only found 1 drop of blood. I'm confident the deer is dead because I was on the only trail he could have possibly taken, it very thick.

I don't understand how you are confident he's dead, if you didn't find him on the only trail he could have taken.

that drives tacks at 45 yards.

4 inch wide tacks.

From my last go around on "ethical shot placement" on this forum you are wasting your time...to many computer hunters...

My range with a compound bow is 45 yards. I know this because I shoot alot and I am confident at putting 10/10 arrows inside of about a 4" circle.

Your words, not mine.

For the record, I have shot and killed multiple deer at over 200 yards. I shoot a 300 WSM because I hunt a pipeline alot and go elk hunting with it. I am shooting 185 gr. bullets and I have my gun zeroed at 225 yards which is +/- 3" out to 350 yards I shoot target shoot long distances up to 400 yards before the season.

Then I apologize. I shouldnt have assumed that because you missed the mark on a far shot that you weren't a rookie at shooting at far distances. My fault.

Jack Daniel,
Very important questions:
Where were the crosshairs on the deer when you shot?
How is your gun sighted in at 200 yds?

The presence of white hair can be deceiving. The last deer I killed had a lot of white hair and NO brown hair where it was standing when shot. I was worried about a brisket shot. But it turned out I hit the heart.

That's not bragging. That's average or even below average shooting for anyone that shoots a decent amount

There. THanks for apologizing to someone I don't know. We're good now.

I still don't think you can kill deer 10/10 times at 45 yds though.

+/- 2" off of bullseye 10/10 is not bad is it? It's certainly not great, but it's not bad.

45yd bow shots are far less ethical than 200yd rifle shots dude. But nobody here cares about ethical shots.

That completely depends on who is shooting now doesnt it? Again, relativeness.

The ability to consistenly and accurately hit a stationary target a 45 yards with your broadheads is only part of the equation when talking about killing a whitetail at that distance with a bow.

That block target will not jump the string at all, will not incidentally move at the moment you release the arrow, and does not have the reflexes of well, a whitetail deer.

A 45 yard shot on a WT deer with bow is unethical. PERIOD. I don't give 2 shits if you robin hooded the last 1/2 dozen arrows at a 50 yard range before walking to the stand.

Well I feel the same way about a 200 yard shot with a rifle.

I think it is average or below average for someone that shoots a lot, just like your prior assessment. I also think it is beyond your effective range, as it is most bowhunters.

I also think 200 yards is in the range of most rifle hunters.

I am still unclear on your earlier assessment of him being unethical. But I also have nothing else to add
