I wouldn't use widespread roundup in an area I want something to grow on soon after.

Boot, is that stuff safe on a centipede lawn? I have torpedo grass trying to take over my front yard.

Yours looks repairable because it's mainly weeds. 2, 4D should kill a ton of that.

I can't get rid of this shite. Anything I've found that kills it also kills my good grass.

The last pic is from a few weeks ago just to show how much of it is in my yard. The other side is just as bad

That's all over mine too. Weed B Gone doesn't even phase it.

Also what I believe to be Thistle based on the following resource (I don't know how to post pics to share)

LSU Ag

That damn Oak tree is wreaking havoc on that side of the yard, always much thinner than the other, If i had the money I would take it all up and re sod with 419, that grass is an old hybrid cultivar called no-mow bermuda from the 60's

I have(had) some of that too. The only thing I have found that gets rid of it is to pull it up by hand for small spots or dig it up with a shovel and re-sod the area for large spots.

Who would you recommend for a good landscaping company around Hammond/Ponchy? I need to get some spots in my yard leveled and re-sodded. I could do it myself, but it may be cheaper just to hire somebody to do it right.

That looks like dallisgrass, or possibly Vasey grass, to me. Would need to see a seed head to be sure.

jdavid, call Grassmasters in Ponchatoula.I know the guy personally, and I contract my irrigation to him as well.

Yeah I'm friends with Brandon, but he doesn't do residential anymore. He told me what to do to get it right, but I'm thinking it may just be easier to hire a professional.

He just did the new First Guaranty Bank in Ponchatoula if you want to check out his sod skills.

That's a coincidence. I just did all the signs there, and I was complimenting his work while I was there. It looks really good. I'll give him a call. Thanks.

Dallis grass, baw. I spot sprayed some of mine with roundup, we'll see if she comes back. There are some products that kill it though, metribuzin is one but I'm not sure if that's safe on your turf grass.

I think I bought a defective bottle of weed-free-zone.

Looks like my yard.
My neighborhood is in the Honey Island Swamp, and the swamp is reclaiming the ground. The back 3 ft. of my yard along my fence is just a carpet of green moss now - though it looks sorta like a putting green. And in the past year I must have found two dozen different kinds of mushrooms in my yard. It's kind of cool, because I'm seeing some colorful mushrooms that I've never seen before in my life. And the few low spots that hold water when it rains now have "pond" plants.

My lawn from hell. How do I fix this? by bootleggerI switched from Simazine to Specticle this past fall...man has it done a hell of a job. The ball fields are as clean through this winter as ever, and still holding strong. Simazine worked well for the poa, but allowed some swinecress and a few other weeds to pop up in late spring. The Specticle hasn't allowed shite to come up.

yet gave me advice to get Simizine which was $100 and I still had some weeds pop up although the POA took an arse beating. The few areas where I got fungal infection in the st Augustine this late winter though, even though sprayed in similar fashion as other parts of the yard, had a significant amount of POA reappear.

It's always smart to apply a granular fungicide in the spring and fall with St Aug. A granular insecticide and a good preemegent herbicide at those times as well to keep it healthy and weed free. This allows you to feed it in the spring without the "weed" selective herbicide component.
