Man, that's rough. Sounds like she had a long and happy life though.

The good Lord is calling a lot of good men and a lot of good pups home these days.
She'll be taken care of until you get there. My Precious, Mac, Phantom, and Breaux are all up there too.

Sorry to hear that. Lost ours chocolate lab of over 14 years a few months ago. Tough times, but thinking about the good times and memories help.
Thoughts and prayers.

Wow, 16 years is great, but also makes the loss harder. Dogs are awesome. Sorry for your loss.

prayers sent, man...
i've lost three so far this year, including my best friend of 16 years.
Time helps the healing, but nothing will replace them.

So sorry pepper.

Just this side of heaven
is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

So sorry to hear that. It's amazing how a dog can get into our lives and hearts the way they do.
I have 3 and will be devastated when it that time.

It's hard to lose someone that close after only 16 years. It's never long enough.

Sorry to hear about that. It's tough at first, but it slowly gets better.
<--- I had to put him down last Friday. I can't believe it's been a week already. There were times I didn't even want to come back to the house because it's just not the same anymore. It's slowly getting better though.

Sorry for your loss man. One of mine is 15 and it's getting tough for him to walk. Patagonia recently sponsored a video about this guy Ben Moon and his pup Denali. It's a little cheesy at parts, but I felt like it really accurately summed up the bond between a human and his pup...especially one of those good pups that doesn't come along too often. I won't post it here because I'm not sure if it would make you feel better or not, but if you wanna watch it just google Denali dog Patagonia and it'll come up.
Keep your head up, and when the time is right, get you another. Not to replace your old pup, but just to fill the void left by a lost dog. I won't speak for everyone, but as a person who loves dogs and loves training dogs, my life feels much less full without one.

I don't train, but I feel exactly the same way. Well said. My dogs are my children, and losing them is heart wrenching.

Hey man. I'm really sorry about your pup. She's up there in puppyville playing with a few of mine.
