re: Hank Jr. is looking for his grandfather's gun.. - Rebnbama
My Father has a gun just like the description. Belonged to my Paw Paw. I learned to shoot doves with it. Wonder if I could get 50 $100 bills for it....

re: Zoysia Grass-any advice is appreciated - Rebnbama
The first house I bought had Zoysia and it was a great looking yard, but a lot of hard work too. When it got too thick we used a verticutter to thin out those areas. I got lucky and met an old guy who was a retired extension agent and he would come by and give me advice. I learned a lot from hi...

re: teach left handed son to shoot right handed? - Rebnbama
I think it's more about his dominant eye than being left handed. I am left handed, but right eye dominant, and shoot right handed....

re: Summer jobs in Ak (links added) - Rebnbama
Showed this to my son last night. He is a junior in high school. He is ready to leave for AK now. I assume all jobs require 18 or older? What a great way to spend a summer. He will be looking for this next year. Thanks for the info....

re: .308 vs 7mm-08 for a young un? - Rebnbama
Bought my son a .308 when he was 9. Hunt mostly out of shooting houses so he could prop on the window. He is 16 now and the gun still fits and shoots great....

re: PSA: don't spend your money on a hunt in the black belt of alabama - Rebnbama
You may be right about the definition of the black belt, but I think most people (with some exceptions) think of the area in the western portion to be where the largest deer are. ...

re: PSA: don't spend your money on a hunt in the black belt of alabama - Rebnbama
JD sorry you had a bad experience, but Barbour County is not in the Black Belt of Alabama. I don't know much about the east side of the state, but the area south and west of Montgomery is usually loaded with big deer in large numbers....

re: Mississippi Hunting Education license - Rebnbama
This may be a back door, but I know in Alabama you can take an online course for all of it and no classroom required (my 16 yr. old had to do this recently). I took the course before him just for kicks and it is a pain, because you can't just click through it. It times you on every screen so they ...

re: Weekend hunt at Bear Creek Ranch. - Rebnbama
Looks like a great hunt, especially with your Dad. Is this the hunt your wife gave you? I may have you confused, but I lurk a lot and thought you posted about the gift. No substitute for times with family and hunting....

re: Help with finding a rifle a 7yr old/little kids can shoot - Rebnbama
When my son was 7 he killed his first doe using my old 30-30. Had it tucked under his arm because the stock was too long. I really thought he would miss, but he hit her in the neck and she never moved. I didn't want to get a gun he would out grow and we got him a 308 the next year and he has used i...

re: Fella's, I wanna boil some peanuts. - Rebnbama
I use water, salt and liquid Zatarain's crab boil. Put them in the crock pot and let them cook for 6-8 hours if dried, not nearly as long if using green peanuts. A lot of salt....

Coot, Did you say how old he is? He is a good looking dog and like you said he is happy. Don't even want to think about going through that again. Good luck and God Bless. hunt66 Man don't post like that any more I'm at work. Hard to explain that I got dust in my eyes in an office....

re: Smoky Mountain Trail suggestions - Rebnbama
Our family goes to the Smokies every year or so. If you can go after school starts it will be less crowded. The more time I spend in the mountains and less time in the tourist towns the better. Cades Cove is a great place when not crowded. We usually see bears there. About half way around the...
