So I was looking last night and I am leaning toward the Crew 800 EFI.

It is only $1500 more than the full size 800 EFI and has the same payload, bed capacity, and towing rating.

Any reason not to go with this model?

I was considering used but I am not sure what to look out for when purchasing. Any advice?

The only drawback is turning radius (if you hunt in close quarter woods and the like) and the necessity for a bigger trailer. I have one and love it.

We have the XP and wish it was a crew

Not quite as nimble but that would be your only drawback

Our single seat also has a full cab which would be way more expensive to put on a crew

I just got this exact model delivered to my new site for work. We just bought 4 brand new ones after having the 500 and 700 regular cabs forever. Before I even unloaded it off the trailer I brought it to the deer lease in the hill country this weekend to put it to the test. It was awesome. I like the crew so much more than the others we have had too. And to go along with it, the roof didn't blow off like 3 others have in the last few years. It's got a ton of power and rides smooth as glass. No problem going up the rocky hills and slopes or through the creeks with steep banks. Only thing is the turning radius isn't as good, but it's to be expected with the extra length. It's 12' long by the way. We bought 2 of the trailers that are made for them, i think ranch king or something like that, to haul them around on and it pulled super easy with it facing forward. The engine is under the rear seat which lines up over the trailer axle perfect. Would highly recomment this trailer. It's the perfect length for this machine and the double hinged fold up ramp is sweet. I hauled it with a regular bed, single cab, GMC Sierra V6 from Houston to Kerrville and it was no problem at all. Averaged 70mph the whole way.

I have a crew. They won't fit on a 10' trailer.

As far as buying used, I bought mine used with 300hrs on it. Was used by adults, and came with a maintenance log. Was very well taken care of, and with the exception of a few scratches was in great condition. I wouldn't have bought the crew, but the deal I got on it would have been stupid to pass up.

Mine is the 500 EFI. Just regular cab.

For everything that I've needed it for the 500 has mre than enough power. I've pulled our 19ft cc boat around without any trouble at all. Also, pulled around my trailer (6x10) loaded with sand with no issues.

I thought I wanted the crew but I really haven't needed it. My kids just sit in the back when we all ride in it.

Also, like others have said you need a 12ft trailer for the crew.

ETA: One of my closest friends sells them. I was asking him about getting used and he said that tyically they have been so beat up that he wouldn't recommend it. Not saying that you can't find one occasionally that is in good condition but most will be pretty well abused. I haven't necessarily abused mine but I'm not easy on it either.

To be far to the regular cab 500s, we have put 5 grown men and a 200+ axis deer in it at the same time and managed to get back. 3 in the cab, 2 in the bed with the axis. We also use them to haul the air compressors, light plants, fuel tanks, etc. around out job sites with no problems. The only issues we ever have with any of them is when our guys rag them out and tear the linkage up in them. The trans linkage is our biggest problem but for any person's normal use and if taken care of and maintained like I would expect anyone who personally owns one to do, they will run forever without many problems, if any.

Will the mid-size version sit in a 5x10 trailer? It's the 500 I think. That's what I'll be looking into shortly

I bought a used 2013 500 efi crew with 60 hours on it and I love it. Like most have said the turning radius is the only issue but it's by no means a complaint from me. It runs about 45 mph and pulls like a sob.

I can buy a green z71 suburban as my hunting vehicle for probably less than 1/3 of the cost of one of these damn things. Seriously considering it.

Yes, that's what I have. They say it will fit in the back of a pickup.

ETA: unless you are talking about the 500 EFI Crew. It will not fit on a 10ft trailer.

boss, the Polaris website lists the 2014 crew 900 as having the following dimensions.

Overall Vehicle Size (L x W x H)

148.5 x 61 x 76 in. (377 x 155 x 193 cm)

just looked at the website.

There are basically 3 different ones with several engines in each.

The EFI is the midsize Ranger. It's smaller
Engines are 400, 570, and 800

The Full size is the regular 2 seat Ranger.
Engines are 800 and 900

The Crew is the 4 seater
Engines are 570, 800, Diesel, and 900
