Lets talk soft plastic frogs/toads

I usually use the Stanley Ribbit with the screw lock hook and have great success.
I picked up a pack of Strike King Rage Tail toads this year to give a shot and they either arent worth a frick or Im doing something wrong.
They bunch up on the hook, run upside down most of the time and I got nearly zero motion from the feet.
I did some searching online and it looks like they are very particular on hook size/type and how they are actually hooked. Way too much bullshite for me to want to use them anymore.
What does everyone else use?
Do you prefer the soft plastics frogs over hollow bodies or vice versa? Depend on certain scenarios?

I just posted this in the other thread, but my go to is Sizemic Frogs

I mostly throw Spro frogs. I prefer the junior size, they seem to eat it better. Usually black and yellow.
If I'm throwing a toad its a Ribbit on a 4/0 double toad hook.

Ribbit when I need speed and noise to get reaction strikes.
Horny toad when I need speed but not much water movement.
Booyah pad crashers (both pointy and pop-r noses) for when I need the bait to sit.
All the rest I've tried don't do any better (and usually do worse) than these three.
I do like spro brand frogs, but damn, $$$$$

Prefer hollow bodies most of the time. But yeah depends on the scenario. Stanley Top Toad for hollow body and Zoom Horny Toads have gotten me some incredible topwater strikes as far as soft plastic frogs go.

Spro bronzeye shad... Technically not a frog but works the same. It's more rounded on the bottom and walks better.

I definitely prefer hollow bodied ones. I mainly use Spro in either Rainforest Black, Killer Gill, or Leopard.
When I want a soft plastic one it's either horny toad, Ribbit, or speed craw. I've found the speed craw works great when they're kinda finicky.

A ribbit frog is my go to top water bait unless there's Lillie's around. The ribbit just doesn't jump up onto the pads like a hollow body frog. I have a lot of success with ribbit so I've never really thought about trying new brands.

Only difference is I use 5/0

I usually trim the tails down to about 2" as well

Best frog on the market IMO & isn't overly expensive. If you aren't familiar with the Sebile Line of lures, Patrick is the most creative & meticulous lure designer. His attention to detail & design is amazing.
Yes, full disclosure, he's a close friend(subtle brag LOL), though I'd pick his frog over all the others if I could just have one.....others have advantages in different applications.

I used to be a big fan of Ribbit but I been reaching down and using my Spro a bit more lately. Maybe where I fish they just rather the Spro. I do trim the tail just a bit.
Always count to 3 when you get that big hit. Hardest thing in this world to me is to not set the hook on the stike.

On a Spro frog, if you trim one of tails about a 1/2 inch shorter than the other it will walk better for you.

I've noticed soft plastic frogs run better on a straight shank hook, which is weird for me because I've always used wide gap hooks on all my other soft plastics.
That said, I use/like the SPRO knock off H2O hollow body frogs from Academy. They are good, you just have to squeeze the water out of them every 3rd or 4th cast.

I'm thinking of ordering some of the Snag Proof frogs. They have a separate chamber for the hooks and for air so they won't take on water supposedly.
