re: Bush hogging and Wildlife - tigerbait703
Animals especially deer feel safe in thick cover. I had a lease with almost all mature pines with hardly any underbrush, deer were few and far between. When they came and clear-cut half of it the population immediately went up....

re: Headed to Des Allmendes for the first time Sunday, a quick question - tigerbait703
Is the bass fishing around the cypress in the lake ever good? While i know bass will hold around the cypress, something about fishing in there isn't convincing to me.
Its really just too shallow. I've caught bass in the trees but they are few and far between. Mouth of Pleasure B...

re: Headed to Des Allmendes for the first time Sunday, a quick question - tigerbait703
The lake itself is not the best for bass. The water is algae green right now and really hot. Stay round where the bayous empty into the lake with some good water....

re: Fall Cobia Run - tigerbait703
We like to pull up to single pole "satellites" are what we call them. Do about 3 circles around it. then back up to it with the motor and nail the gas, throwing the wash on it. They are extremely curious and most times if they are there, they will come up to investigate....

re: Where can I find GPS coordinates for all of the floaters? - tigerbait703
MC-582 (Medusa) 28°23'23.77"N 89°27'41.91"W MC-809 (MARS) 28°10'17.54"N 89°13'36.57"W From MARS you can see URSA pretty easily. Both in Mississippi Canyon 809. There were also a few drill barges in that area not long ago. I would think about staying around the rip and shrimp boats if...

re: Pontoons for a houseboat - tigerbait703
Yea, still have a few things to do like the sink, but its almost done. I wanted a big front porch for cooking outside and mostly because that's where you spend most of your time....

re: Pontoons for a houseboat - tigerbait703
I ordered these from Harbor Ware. Foam filled dock floats. They work great. I also built a fiberglass rake for the front for easy pushing. [img][IMG]http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b560/jpercle/1-20-16_zpsjs8ab...

re: Lake Des Allemands bass fishing this weekend? Or elsewhere? - tigerbait703
Thanks for all the replies... with that area seemingly hit or miss, is there any other areas you all would recommend within 1 hour or so of New Orleans? I really am just looking for a good bass spot
Might be a lil more than an hour, but I would hop on Hwy 90 and head towards Morgan...
We were on the south side of the lake last weekend.. There was a huge algae bloom covering the whole south side.. Water was neon green... Im no expert, but it seems like that would not be good for fishing...?
Yea the lake water is really hot. It turns like that every summer. The fi...
Save the time and fish cataouache or Salvador
Cataouatche is a crap whole. Unless you go to Gulf Canal area I wouldn't waste my time. Salvador has been OK around the Temple Bay area. Des Allemands has been on pretty good, but its a real early or real late bite. If you fishing th...

re: What is your definition of Rat Red? - tigerbait703
The size you REALLY want to keep.
I always wondered how good a 11" red is compared to a 16"? I bet they're delicious. I only really like reds on the half shell so a smaller one might be as good as a speck fried....
Been hearing a lot about the sulphur mines, if someone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.
Leave the launch and head north. Second canal on the right, its kind of wide at the beginning, but as you go down it narrows. It will take you straight there. As for ...

Update on the houseboat a few pages back. Did a cedar wainscot, and wrapped the windows in cedar. Only have inside stuff left. Cabinets, bunks and bathroom. [img][IMG]http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b560/jp...
