Is a .38 revolver a good gun for a woman?

Need to get the little lady one before the riots get out of hand.

Bapple will save your soul on this one.

Yeah I know he's got some long post that he's bookmarked for threads like this. I know bigger framed guns are easier to shoot for women. My wife isn't very coordinated so I'm thinking a simple revolver with a laser may serve her well.
I've never shot a .38 so I don't know what the recoil on it is.
We also don't have a lot of free time to spend at the range practicing.

The recoil isn't that much different than the 9MM. I bought my wife a .32 Beretta Tomcat (I got a great deal on it); very accurate & lightweight. The only downside is buying ammo locally.

I have a S&W Airweight .38 and that thing is the most uncomfortable pistols to shoot that I own. The frame digs into the webbing between your index finger and thump every shot. I took my buddy and his wife shooting the other day because she wants a pistol and she could handle my Springfield XD 9mm with no problem.

Yep, she hates it and prefers the 22. I prefer shooting the 4" 357. Light snubbies are good for concealing and bad for enjoyable shooting.

If you are looking at home defense then a fullsize .38/.357 would be a better choice than a snub-nose. My gf keeps my fullsize USP .45 and no problems handling it.

This would be fir concealed carry

If she can hit someone with it then yes.

It's my daughter's favorite gun, then the .45.
She likes the simplicity.

I got a Model 10 4" for target practice with plans to get an airweight or ladysmith. She shot the mod 10 some this weekend, doesn't like the recoil, I told her dont't be a pussy.

Same here. I have an older light/laser combo. I was mainly looking for a light, but this one had both and was actually cheaper. Found it on some clearance or sale. It is basically worthless. Every little hand movement is exaggerated with the laser. And once you have it dialed in for 10 yards, it is pretty much dead center of where the light shines. I wish I had just bought a light instead. Night sights and a light are all I need.

A revolver is the safest and easiest pistol to operate under duress.
I personally think they are the perfect gun for personal protection.
Lots on here will disagree and suggest semi automatics. I agree they are great guns but, can a novice shooter operate one while under stress. Probably not.

Semi-auto is the correct answer for self defense.

Yes because operating a Glock is super complicated......
Point, pull trigger, and repeat until threat is over.
Lol

Pull the trigger and it goes boom just like every other gun
Revolver vs semi-auto stopped being a debate in the early to mid-90s

Yeah pretty much this

There is NO perfect handgun for women. They like small size, but hate the recoil. Each woman should pick out her own pistol.
Until you get a double feed on that Glock 42 or 43 - very common on those pistols due to limp wristing. Limp wristing is very common with women shooters.
This too. Those .38's are good from about 15' in IF you practice with it.
