re: When did it become ok to drop "f bombs" in mixed company? - dat yat
I used to avoid cursing, especially in mixed company. But as I age I get more pissed off. Just the other day, I took my daughter (a 5th grade teacher in Fairhope) to lunch at The Joint and said the f word on the way. In my defense, there really were douchbags driving like fricking arse holes and t...

re: Study: significant increase in patients who can't afford to pay full hospital bill - dat yat
Patient responsibility receivables have always had poor payment. The provider expects most of it to be written off. Lenders won't allow it as collateral. The industry make profit off the insurance claims alone and anything they get from patients is pure gravy. The billing is based on what the mo...

re: How wide should a woods road be? - dat yat
They clearcut it a couple years ago and it is just weeds, briar and light scrubbrush now except for the actual roadbed and a few oaks scattered about. The contract states that I cannot cut down any trees and 30' is wider than I need. But now is the time to carve out a wide path if there are any ben...

re: What are some disadvantages to the Deep Vee hull in So LA (Inshore / Bass)? - dat yat
We went rout fishing in my neighbors Regulator recently. It was great for lake/rig fishing in Borgne or Pontchartrain; no worries if the wind kicks up. I missed the shallow draft and trolling motor of my Express because I like trolling shorelines and ponds for reds. You are not going shallow ...
You don't have to build the road 30', but I'd clear at least 30', that way you can build your road bigger if you need to.
Thanks y'all. 30' cleared with the old roadbed in the middle sounds like the way to go. Even though I have a tractor, it would be better to use gallons an...
Wide enough so when trees grow back it doesn't canopy over. Canopy doesn't allow for sun which dries things out during wet winters/spring
Interesting. Most of it is sandy and gently sloped so that part always stayed decent even before the clear-cut. The one clay area held water a...

How wide should a woods road be? - dat yat
I own 40 acres surrounded by Desoto NF. They just gave me legal access and the permit allows a 30'x 250 yard right of way. The existing dirt road (through a recent clear-cut) is only 8-10' wide. What are the benefits to making it 30' wide vs maintaining the original road width?...
I commute 40 miles into BR daily. I have traffic maybe twice a month.
What road to BR only has traffic twice a month? I live on the water and commute 25 miles to NOLA CBD. I would have preferred some acreage, but that's not affordable (maybe not even available) nearby....
And the monuments butthurt continues to flow through the land!
It's not that at all. There really has been an increase in violence in the past month. It's almost as if the statue removals have emboldened them. There has always been thug on thug violence; but tourists used to be...

I live in a condo and it really varies depending on the latest catfight, er, ehum meeting. Several are true friends, some are real problems and some vary depending on the situation. I've always made friends with a few neighbors everywhere I've lived....

I went to a Nola area Catholic high school in the 80s and was taught evolution. Both of my children went to Catholic schools (08 and 2010) and we're taught evolution. I was under the impression that only 'evangelical' Christian schools avoided evolution....

re: Lake Borgne fishing - dat yat
We fished a couple hours at some of the rigs and caught 10 trout 2 Sundays ago, live shrimp. Even with the recent winds, the water was a nice clear green. There were no schoolies yet, just nice ones. The water is about a foot higher than normal around Chef Pass; up to my dock stingers....
