Don't remember how old for the BB gun. Though I was 10 or 11 when I got an air rifle.

Yeah lil choupique and crew used to roam our neighborhood with pellet guns a couple years back......

Red Rider at about 5. Benjamin bird slayer a couple of years later. There was an animal free zone around my house.

I put a BB in my thumb around the age of 5. Seems I can't really remember not having one.

I just gave my 6 & 8 yo godchilds their first BB guns for Christmas today. I will remember their faces as long as I live when they opened them.

Have one for my 5 yo niece and 4 yo nephew. My brother is cool with it. I also bought one for my 4 yo daughter. I got a .410 bolt action at 5. I would prefer her to learn proper gun fundamentals early in life. Plus, i wanted to be able to shoot cans in my back yard! Now I have a legitimate reason.

Probably 5. Maybe 6. First thing I ever shot in my life was a blue jay, out of the air. Three of them flew across my back yard, I threw up and dropped one. No shite.

Thanks for reminding me about that. Conversation at school after holidays between most first grade boys in Avoyelles:
"What you got for Christmas?"
" A lil Protch. Dat robin jambalaya was good, yeah!"
Protch,-noun- any of the various lever action air powered BB guns given as a rite of passage to most boys in Avoyelles parish at about age 6. Derived from the sound they made when shot. Usually graduated a couple years later to Benjamins or 22s. My Benjamin was handed down to me by a young uncle.

My youngest got a bb gun for his 5th birthday and has shot a cut-down stock .410 at decoys.

This, and my dad assured me that Benjamin was just like a 22 at close range. I didn't believe until I killed a squirrel at my Granny's house with it.
Was not my first squirrel, but for sure my first "rifle squirrel". Was in season, but in the city limits. But, it was Jonesboro, so not sure if that counts.
