I got my first Daisy for my 4th birthday, got my daughter her first for her 4th Christmas.

Got a Benjamin .177 at about 6 I think, killed many a bird, snake, turtle, coon with it. Along with my brother and first cousin, all similarly armed, we killed a half grown coyote once.

Got my first rifle for my 8th Birthday and killed a deer with it that fall. Anschutz .22 Magnum.

Bought my first shotgun on credit when I was 12 at Keeth's Marine in Jonesville.

I'll never forget the arse whipping I caught for throwing about 12 robins in my moms dryer and turning it on when green jeans came around the house one afternoon

I remember my 12 gauge at 10. I was too young for it, and knew it.

Pretty bad, it is actually a pretty proficient way to pluck robins.

My favorite uncle bought my son his first gun for Christmas. It was no Red Ryder. He bought him a Remington 1100 12 gauge automatic. My son is 6 months old. In a way he stole my thunder as I wanted to give my son his first shotgun/rifle. But I can't complain, I thought it was pretty neat. Can't wait for him to be old enough to shoot. I'll get the honor of teaching him how to use it.

I killed two with it, high neck shots. I was money with that little joker. Have since loaned it out and 3/4 other boys killed their first or first and second with it.

Got a Model 94 30-30 when I was ten. Thought I was a grown man then.

My favorite gift this year was a pellet gun. Gammo whisper fusion or some shite. 1300 fps with 3x9scope. Not as quiet as I hoped, but good enough.

Got my girls BB guns at age seven. Shotguns at 8 and .243's at 10. Only the oldest hunts (daddy's girl), but they can both shoot, handle and clean guns safely. All 3 women in my house can outshoot me with pistols. I win with rifles and shotguns, but not by much.

My sister and mom had nothing to do with hunting growing up, and my wife gave me a new perspective about my daughter. I hadn't even considered getting her a gun and my wife was like WTF. Glad she did, we had a blast shooting at our pet ducks with her red rider Tuesday. I hope she takes to it. She will prob be a better hunter than the boys, much more patient.
