People will probably laugh but the biggest stacked waves I have experienced were in a Contender 31T headed into the Destin Pass with a strong south wind and an out going tide. Very scary...don't know wave height...probably 6s with an occasional 8', but stacked and a lot of current. The boat had twin F300s and the current was pushing so hard that it seemed we were using a trolling motor to propel the boat.

Looked similar to this I suppose...

bro-in-law is ex navy and was a lt on a frigate. he has told me that while he was on watch the front glass of the helm "greened out" several times in one storm. the helm is/was 43' over the water line

lake verret when the weather got bad

have heard the same thing about Lake De Cade. Never experienced it though. Alway avoid it in a storm. Have heard of people having to run the edge of the lake because the middle was too rough.

Come on dude. With all the shite talking you do on here that's the best you can do?? I thought you had this one in the bag.

IQ comes into play, mine is obviously higher. I wouldn't have that story if it wasn't nationals tourney. I've been beat senseless in Contenders, Fountains, Yellowfins, Donzi's, etc. again all kingfish tourneys with time constraints. The 8-10s in 24' ranger with wife was pretty hairy also.

Years ago...so many years, it costs us 125.00 to fill up the boat and we thought that was ridiculous! what is the world coming to? We have to spend 125.00 to go offshore....LOL....

After ice, bait and gas....headed out of belle pass....get to mouth....WOW, that's big water...buddy says, its always rougher in belle pass....besides we got bait, ice and gas....we fishing....Here we go...initially headed 20miles out...opted for first set in about 50'....after the shephards hook straightens out on a nice rogue roller, we opted to come on in and look for some "INSHORE OPTIONS"...Thing is...it was much nicer going out, coming in was a booger....It was a little wet....Wasn't oh shite bad, but there were times when we were like...UGH, How big are these gonna get...but the frequency and direction wasn't horrible...Never felt in danger, but knew it wasn't smart to be where we were....

Here is a video of what had to be an OT baller... LINK

In all seriousness, and in view of my post about Destin Pass, I know some guys that fish out of Jupiter Inlet, and it can get really nasty there as well with current and wind in play...as seen here... This Captain Sadly Died here

and here... 36 Contender with Trip Verados...

The post made me think about offshore, but I've been in the 17' express in lake verret when the weather got bad and seeing the muddy bottom of verret in between waves got the pucker factor going....Only 3-4's but angry 3-4's and running out of water while the lightening is standing your hair up on ends striking around you! SUCKED!

That. In a 15' Cajun Special flat bottom boat with a 40 and no trim.

3 to 5 foot seas in a 13 foot Boston Whaler. The waves were completely sweeping over the boat. It was exciting but I don't know if I would want to do it again in a boat soooo small and ill equipped for offshore use.

12-15 in a small crew boat evacuating from a hurricane. Out of 20+ people there was only 3 of us not sick. Our derrick hand got out of his seat because the window was leaking. We hit a big wave and the force of the boat slamming down broke his leg. It was a ride from hell!

The scaredest I have ever been was on Sam Rayburn in a Stratus bass boat under 17' in 4-5ft seas. I thought we were gonna flood out. I chipped a tooth and hurt my shoulder in that one.

6 ft. in a 29' Sea Ray. What sucked was the almost total lack of visibility due to the rain.

8-10's in a 31' fountain. We just slowly went back in the grand isle. Had waves breaking across the boat. Never seen anything like that since. It came up on us quickly. Luckily we were with a very experienced boater and the boat handled it well. Never resolutely in danger or anything.

I visited an floating drilling rig once and was told that we were experiencing 25-30' seas. It didn't feel that bad because the rig was so big, but it look like the perfect storm out there.

7'-9' crossing lake Pontchartrain in my 18' kenner.
Was fishing a tourney out of Rigolets and head to the Lacombe rigs. Ended up following Gary Zerangue in his 25' Seapickle crossing the lake to Seabrook and it got so bad my boat would come off plane trying to climp the waves. We made it in 1 1/2 hours.

I take that back.Dad had a 23' Grady White. We got caught going out of the Destin pass in 10+. Had a huge sportsfisher turn around to break the waves for us so we could turn around. Went to turn and got caught in a swell and the boat rolled 80 degrees. We lost some items from the boat but all made it back safe.

7-8 foot seas on 40 foot crew boat. Made it out of the pass in Panama City fl and turned around scuba bottles banging evereywhere as far as fishing I personally wouldn't go out in anything over 2-3. Even in a 30 ft center console a true 3-4 makes for a long body punishing day

6' in a 21' cc 29 miles off Boca Grande about 8 years ago with my dad. Storm caught us. We hugged each other, said a prayer, told the other we loved them. Turned east and surfed home. We have been real tight ever since.
