Yes I get the evening hallucinations often however my safety never gets switched off unless I am sure it is something I am shooting.

I know these must be fairly common in low light hunting situations, but has anyone ever fired at one of them? or am I the only dumbass?

Wow....think you need to redo hunters safety. Know what it is you're shooting at before shooting.

This was just a sad excuse for a hunt. That douche deserves to have his license revoked for life.

Friend of mine almost shot a natural gas christmas tree once in low light down near Logansport, La. Several people I knew and went to school with were shot and injured or killed. Lots of idiots out there. Add booze and it gets worse.

I was hunting one year old cutover very overcast and misting rain. Jumped three deer while climbing in stand. Thought I saw a rack on one of them. Got situated in stand and saw what looked to be a deer looking at me about 50 yards away witha rack. Didn't shoot because I wasn't sure. I guess it was a branch or something. I never shoot until 100% certain. Not worth a chance.

You are not the only dumbass. Everyyear I hear about someone shooting their friend because they thought they saw antlers. Lots of dumbasses in the world.

Hunting with my dad years ago. A "deer" walks under our stand but it was still too dark to really see. I could just make out a silhouette moving. Dad wouldn't let me shoot, taught me to never shoot at anything you're not absolutely sure about. Years later, hunting in a stand by myself I had a "deer" come out behind my stand. The sun is coming up and I can see the body of the deer because she is back lit through the canopy of leaves. Deer is less than 10 yards away. I can hear her chewing acorns. I still didnt shoot, because I couldn't clearly see the deer. True sportsman dont use guns unwisely.
