There was a guy killed on jack/ Ben wma several years ago just like this.
There was an article years ago in F/ S about this very thing a guy almost shot his buddy because he thought he was a deer. This story has stuck with me through the years because I always thought how terrible that would be to killed your buddy.
I have seen many a deer at daylight or dark that turned out to be nothing, I ain't never shot one of them
