BEAVERTON, Ore. (KRON) — A woman in Oregon hit the $8 million jackpot at a Lucky Eagle Casino slot machine, but got no money.

The casino said it was a machine malfunction and gave her $80 instead, reported KOIN’s Lisa Balick.

Veronica Castillo took her mother to the casino in Rochester, Washington last weekend. She put $100 in a machine and hit the jackpot — she thought.

“I was very excited, happy,” she told KOIN 6 News. “Then I couldn’t believe it.”

The casino staff came over and told her the machine malfunctioned.Veronica Castillo thought she hit the jackpot at Lucky Eagle Casino, only to be told the machine malfunctioned. Nov. 5, 2015 (KOIN)

“They shut off the machine, took it away, printed out a ticket and gave me $80.”

The casino machines have a sticker that says a malfunction of the machine voids all pays and plays.

“To me, it’s cheating, may even be fraudulent,” Castillo told KOIN 6 News. “My first thought was, how many people has this happened to? They think they won, then going away empty-handed.”

Casino CEO John Setterstrom, who has been with the casino since before it opened in 1995, told KOIN 6 News this has never happened there before. He said he is working to get answers from the manufacturer and wants to keep Castillo as a customer.

She is working to get an attorney.

That's bullshite. I know here in AR, at least twice people have hit huge scratch off only to have state say it was a misprint. Tough shite. Get insurance motherfrickers. The casino should be shut down if they refuse to pay the frick up.

She is lucky the casino police didn't feel threatened by her excitement and shoot her in self defense. I'd say she and the casino are even.

Wait, she put $100 in, and as a consolation prize she didn't even get all of her money back?

This has happened before. What will happen is that an "independent" state gambling agency will decide the situation and will inevitably rule in favor of the casino.

This happens all the time. Casinos claim malfunctions and there are ways to prove it. She can lawyer up.

So they admit it's not a random game of chance? How is that legal? All bullshite. I don't go to any casino anymore. After being banned from playing blackjack at two, frick'em. They can deny play to anyone, but they should be mandated to pay out if a machine spits out a win.

The lady was probably playing a penny slot that had no progressive jackpot. It probably had a $5000 or so max win if you were max betting and she thinks she won 8 million? It isn't always so black and white. The payouts are available on the machine for anyone to look at. If she lined up at jackpot symbols she can easily see what that would win her based on her bet. It probably wasn't 8 million. This woman also most likely knows this but isn't going to admit that.
